We've done a couple of pick ups from here and almost every time, the food has impressed us. When it comes to curries, they nail it, at least in vegetarian curries. We've tried Mushroom Matar, Paneer Mushroom Bhuna, Saag Paneer and Dal Makhani and they all were great. They're known for Saag Paneer but they're good with the rest as well. For Indians - if you're looking for Indian level of spiciness, just ensure you give 10/10 on spice level while ordering - which is kind of moderate spicy for Indians. The exception will be Paneer Mushroom Bhuna which was exceptionally spicy at 10/10 but we still loved it. When it comes to flatbread, that's where the choices are limited. We tried their Kashmiri Naan, Garlic Naan, Paratha, Aloo Paratha, Aloo Naan and Onion Naan. I'd definitely go for Garlic Naan, Onion Naan or Aloo Paratha on any day. Wasn't really impressed with the rest. Vegetable Samosa was okay. They're very generous with the rice that comes along with the curries. A little more than necessary for even two people. We once just refused rice to avoid wastage since there's no point throwing away the food. Having said that, the quality of rice is great. The ambiance seems to be good. It's a small restaurant in terms of dining in since majority of their business, I believe, comes from deliveries and takeouts. But there are a few tables inside the restaurant for about 20 people. Service, at least in takeaways, is pretty quick. Post order, it's ready in about 10mins. I haven't had much interaction with the staff but it's been good, whatever little. Overall, great place for some delicious Indian food,...
Read moreI recently visited Amol India around 1:50 PM, hoping to have lunch before their scheduled lunch hours ended at 2:00 PM. Unfortunately, we were denied the lunch portion, which seemed like a strategy to push us towards the more expensive regular menu. This felt quite unfair since we arrived well before the cutoff time.
What concerned me even more was the lack of hygiene I observed. From where I was seated, I could see the staff member handling both dirty dishes and food preparation without gloves. He was touching his face and even the food directly with his hands—this was quite alarming considering health and safety standards.
When our food finally arrived, it was not what we expected. We ordered a panner makhni and sahi panner, which was supposed to be a larger regular($20) portion, but it looked much more like the lunch portion($10), despite being charged for the full price. The spices were not cooked properly and tasted quite raw.
I have been a customer of Amol India for years, and I remember their food being outstanding. However, in my last few visits, the quality has noticeably declined. I still remember their Biryani being rich and flavorful, but now it feels more like fried rice with none of the authentic taste I used to enjoy.
I truly hope Amol India takes these issues seriously—both in terms of hygiene practices and...
Read moreI badly want this place to better than what it is. In fact, I've come here 3 times now hoping and dreaming that it will fulfill all of my Indian food desires within 3 miles from my house.
Alas. I don't think I will return.
The food? Pretty good. I'm not giving 2 stars for bad food. It's not the best I've ever had, but you're not hurting for tasty bites. In fact, the way to go may be to just go carry out. I have yet to do carry out, and the bigger reason for my review is the in house.
Service - It's been spotty. Owner and manager are always nice. The cook (I think owner) comes out and asks if the food is good. Wonderful. But, the server is always a struggle. A lot is language barriers, but some just general service nuances that aren't the best.
Decor - meh.
Here's the thing. If you are going to use Groupon as a service, don't roll your eyes when customers come in and use the Groupon. This has happened to us repeatedly. I get you're not making a lot of money because of the Groupon - but the whole point of the Groupon is that I'm THERE! I came in! You won me with a discount! Now win me with your service so that I will come back again!
I dunno. Maybe I'm...
