So this place can totally give you the wrong vibe, at all times throughout the night. It's almost like it's not sure what it wants to be... which makes it great!!
When we first got there a little after 7:30 on a saturday night, and as soon as we walked in we wondered if we were at the right place, and if being in jeans, no matter the heals or dress shirts, if we were grossly underdressed. One of the hosts told the other a table number and we told him we were just looking for the bar. Around to the right he directed us, and as we turned the corner, the thoughts we had at the door grew stronger. but we found some seats at the bar, and the bartender immediately put our mind at ease.
The show doesn't normally start until 8:30 but they're trying to get started sooner especially if there's a lot of people here. So we ordered some drinks, and then discovered they have Buckets, or as the bartender put it, "buckets of booze" that were themed to the place as well. We ordered a Heading for the Border, that was like a giant margarita, and under $17 dollars, and totally worth it. The drinks are reasonable, and it seems the crowd really picks up after 9-9:30, and you realize there's people from all walks of life here. Old, young, classy, normal, it doesn't matter.
The pianos are positioned right down the middle of the place with the tables/restaurant on one side and the bar, with some stage side seating on the other. There's some really nice private rooms in the back for parties, gatherings, and what not. There is also a seperate smoking room to the left when you first walk in that has doors on it and windows so you can see the stage if you need to take a smoke break without going outside, or invading anyone elses breathing area.
I definately want to give this place a try for a late dinner and stay for the show sometime. They play a bunch of different music, and if you really want them to play a song, tip them nicely and they'll get to it sooner. And it doesn't seem any song is too new, too old, or too...
Read moreThis place doesnât deserve the one star Iâm giving it... By far my worst dining experience ever! I had come across this place a few months back on google while looking for some things to do in the Cincinnati/Newport area with my friends while we were in town for an event and thought Itâd be a nice sophisticated place to dine and get drinks one evening and try something different. So one Saturday had my friend make us a reservation for 10:00pm and we drove all the way from Dayton, Ohio to see what this place was about. Soon as we get there the hostess takes us to our table and we sit down start looking at the menu. The restaurant had a nice concept and was very sophisticated, they were playing great music and it reminded of the club In âCarlitos wayâ. 20 minutes go by no waiter comes to our table or even checks on us, so my friend goes to the front desk and ask for the server to come wait us. This black dude (probably the manager or owner) who dressed as a wannabe gangster in suit and hat looking like a ghetto pimp in Mississippi tells my friend what does she want in a rude tone and that if she wanted to get drinks she had to walk to the bar herself and get them and that the kitchen was closed when the hostess sat us for dinning and gave us menus. When she came back to the table we walked out and he didnât make an attempt to say anything to us to ease things over or anything and lost two possible returning future customers due to poor...
Read moreHad a 7pm reservation this past Saturday. My date was advised the show starts at 7:30 when making the reservation, but like the other reviews mentioned, it didn't start until after 8. We ordered the loaded tater tots for an appetizer and they were amazing, would definitely recommend them if you go (but I don't recommend that you go because the tots were not enough to save the experience). I ordered the house salad with the added chicken for dinner - the salad was OK but the chicken was TERRIBLE. The breading was soggy and it tasted like it was microwaved. I picked it all off my salad. My date's burger was good, though. We were there for a total of 2 hours and our server only came by once asking if we wanted more to drink. We would have had more beers, but the service was pretty slow and lousy.
When the pianists finally started performing, they were being kind of rude about requests and would play 30 seconds of one song before moving on, despite the amount they were being tipped. They were obviously catering to a bachelorette party and a girl they knew, even though there was another big table who kept making requests and tipping them. My date and I must not have been enjoying one of the songs enough (it was something I had never even heard before) because the younger piano player called us out and made us sing in front of the whole bar. No thanks. We left soon after that. Will not be back and would not recommend this...
