Irish American Athletic Club — Restaurant in Newport

Awesome place ... even though I haven't been here in 33 years... still have my membership card somewhere. Beer was always cold. Shepards Pie on Mondays was always awesome......Prices were great. Looks pretty much the same except for the partition going down the center.... Where's Pete, the bartender... always great to the crew...Flanny, Paul, Dan. Stretch, Jon, Sean, Whib, Mike F, and all the Twin House Girls. Also Meady! Thank you, IA, for all the great times and memories and the people you housed there! This place was a real life "Cheers"...

Wow...seems prior review ruffled quite a few feathers. FACTS:....overly aggressive bartender... makes unfounded m inappropriate comments towards patron (ME!). Teeters on the very edge ..of going full on physical. Asserts comments made towards his girlfriend. Never happened. Someone.....needs to drink less. Far too many other Newport watering holes...to allow this level of incredibly shabby customer service to prevail. Never again....not if they were...

Pretty cool and large bar with daily entertainment. I love when Irish bars have comfortable, solid wood table and bar chairs with back. We stopped by here during Halloween weekend on Sunday. Couldn't stay for Karaoke. Fun bartender definitely keep the sprit up for Halloween. There is a music box and billard in a different room. It's a nice place for date or get to gether...
