Read moreUnsure where to begin with this. Definitely a very unpleasant experience- and felt discrimination.
To begin with. I went there with my friend on Sunday July 14th for brunch/lunch. We walked to the host table where she even looked at us, and didn’t say anything. I said hello to her, she didn’t respond but mind you we locked eyes. 3 parties walked in behind us, she greeted them and sat them down before me! I will like to note that I had reservations I was not a walk in like the other parties. I was starting to get impatient as now I have waited over 15 minutes. I said hello, I have reservations for 2 and have been waiting. She responds- ohh I thought you was with the large party of 15. She didn’t apologize for the wait or anything, that was the first red flag!
Second red flag, the waitress was rude and unpleasant. No hello, how are you, what can I start off you with. She said and I quote “are you ready to order” no smile nothing. We placed our food and coffee order. The coffee was cold when we received it. I even told her, excuse the coffee cold- she looked at me and said okay and walked away. I took it as maybe she was going to get me fresh coffee or something- never saw until the end for a check. When I asked the other wait staff for ice, or new cup of coffee they told me who’s your waiter - I will send them- she would past us but never stopped. That was red flag 2.
Red Flag 3- This definitely was a health violation. There was staff behind and in front of the bar. 1 worker was peeling oranges and lemons. Not wearing food safety gloves he was drinking, eating and occasional texting while he was doing this- and on top of that after he peeled the fruits, he would place them on the bar top where people were eating, super unsanitary.
Secondly, there were 2 gentlemen behind the bar- 1 was cutting limes, he was wearing gloves while he was doing that- however his teammate who was helping him was not! With his bare hands grabbing the lime slices and laying them on a rack.
Unsure what it was, but none of the wait staff were welcoming or approachable. None of them had a smile on their face, or helpful when you ask for something.
Definitely a place I wouldn’t go back to especially being a color person- and I guess the irony is my friend and I were the only color people inside the restaurant.
Guess where they lacked in hospitality, service the cooks know what they’re doing. The few bites we did have of the food was delicious and their portions...
Read moreArrived at around 4pm on a drizzly Sunday afternoon to find ourselves at a very quiet time for the restaurant (appeared to have less than 10 other groups) which was perfect as we were quite tired from walking around the Newport Mansions.
My party of 4 were quickly seated in a front windowed corner of the restaurant with full view of the dining room and promptly provided our menus. We were a bit confused since they provided 3 brunch menus and 1 regular service menu, but upon confirmation of the waitress we could only order from the brunch menu.
When our food arrived, it was obvious that the order was incorrect (one order had the wrong fries, one order was missing sauce listed on the menu, and one order had the wrong main entree). We understood that mistakes happen, but when someone in my party questioned whether their entree was correct, the waitress decided to defend themselves saying they "input it correctly" only to realize they didn't. When also questioned about the lack of sauce, the waitress also tried to argue stating that it's probably hiding somewhere in the chicken sandwich. Upon lifting the bun, it was very apparent there was none whatsoever and the waitress tried to blame it on the "boys in the kitchen".
Both instances felt unprofessional.
Acceptable responses would have been "let me double check that for you" or "that's our bad, let me fix that for you" instead of the arguing that ensued. In between being served, our waitress was nowhere to be seen (despite being able to have full view of the restaurant).
Overall, the food itself was good but nothing I would seek out again should I find myself in the area. I personally had a chicken sandwich and felt that although the flavors were there, the chicken was a bit dry.
The parking lot adjacent to the restaurant is paid parking...
