Drift Cafe — Restaurant in Newport

I didn't want to write this review, but I feel it's necessary because I’ve noticed a decline in quality in recent years. Service, food, and drinks etc….have gotten worse, while prices have increased significantly. So I came in and I ordered my usual Pandan Latte, which normally looks like a macchiato with green milk at the bottom. However, the barista didn't bother to stir it, so it just looked like there was green food coloring at the bottom. Ew! This was a $7 drink plus tip, and I was disappointed that she didn’t mix it properly. It's frustrating when service places don't put effort into their products but still charge high prices and expect tips and they’re also rude when you call them out for their minimal effort service. I’m tired of ignoring how poor the quality has become in America, as it only seems to be getting worse the more we don’t speak...

This spot was perfect for a quick breakfast before exploring Newport. While busy, the line moved quickly and seating was easy enough to find - from little tables chairs, to swings (big hit with the tween!), to bay window benches. We enjoyed watching people pass by on the street above.

The food came quickly and I was thrilled that the eggs in my BEC sandwich were real eggs. (Unfortunately, in this day and age, that’s not always a guarantee.) The bites I stole from my husband’s Sunset Bowl were delicious and the granola on point. And the Turkish Latte was so creamy and perfectly spiced. Not too sweet, not too cardamom-y. I never post reviews, but I’m actually disgusted with the behavior of the employees and the manager at this establishment. My sister went in the other day and has a deathly severe peanut and tree nut allergy, which she informed the girl at the front counter of when ordering. After receiving and inspecting the smoothie bowl, she found almonds on it. Right off the bat, that is ridiculous as the toppings of a smoothie bowl are easy to change, so this should not have happened in the first place. She then went up to the counter and asked for a refund or a sandwich instead, and the manager gave her a hard time. Overall, vibes were so weird!! Everyone involved was so extremely rude, and I get not liking your job and having a bad day, but this is over a deathly allergy, like come on. And on top of all that, the coffee was just alright....
