This jerky is the worst I've ever had. I've had dozens of brands and make my own, and this is just plain inedible. I paid a small fortune and it's still sitting there. Sometimes I feel obligated to eat some and immediately regret it. I think I'm giving up and throwing it out after this review. 6 other friends have tried it, and also declared it disgusting. 1 friend that doesn't eat jerky said it's unique and maybe he'd eat more.

It's literally a mash of shredded beef or something. You don't even chew, it just disgustingly falls apart in your mouth. Not like a good steak, more like dehydrated seaweed but with a dog food flavor. Good quality jerky should at least be recognizable as meat. This must be scrap meat trimmings.

Worse than that texture is the grainy raw sugar grit. Like you're biting through a frozen brick of brown sugar. The meat has no texture, so you just feel grainy, uncooked sugar rubbing...

Let me explain the situation: my family was having our Christmas party a month late and our Yankee Swap had a theme of “consumable”. I live in downtown Plymouth and had walked by the Newport Exotic Jerky store hundreds of times and thought: bingo! Best idea! (For context you should know we also had a most creative prize) After a string of events I had to order online and paid to get my exotic jerky Tuesday before the party. Well, the USPS notified me that shipping was delayed and it would be here after the party. 💔 So I emailed the store. The owner called me the next day and offered to BRING my order from RI to Plymouth, MA if it didn’t get there in time. I was floored. Derrek was so generous and understanding. Clean store, excellent salesperson, seem like it had a great selection. The red wine and Herb beef jerky which I purchased was really not that good. Is was doused in brown sugar which was all you could taste. Sometimes you come across products which are influenced by an individual's tastes and then they take that product mainstream, and this is one of those examples. I'll have to return and sample some other products to see if they're any good. But for now the red wine and Herb beef jerky will probably not be on my...
