Burger King — Restaurant in Niles Township

I was discriminated against at the Burger King in Walmart, on 3626 W Touhy Ave, Skokie, IL 60076 on Friday November 17th 2017. I stopped at the burger king to order lunch. I had my 7 month old baby with me who is breastfed. I sat down in the Burger King to feed her first before ordering. I was only there for about 8 minutes or less before an employee came out from the back and approached me. He said that these tables and chairs are for customers only and that I cannot sit there. I replied, "how do you know that I am not a customer?" He said, "I don't know you are just sitting there." I replied," I was just breastfeeding my baby before ordering." He then said, “well how am I supposed to know that?" "I said because I am telling you and I have a breastfeeding cover on. I have been here less than 8 minutes and you automatically approach me assuming that I am just taking up space when I literally have a baby in my hand and a breastfeeding cover around my neck?!" He said, "well are going to order or not?" I said not anymore since you have been so rude to me. How did you know that I don't have someone in the front with me ordering?" You just looked at me and immediately assumed that I was not a customer? I think that is very rude. He then told me that I was crazy multiple times and that I need to get out. I said, “I sure will leave but you are not going to rush me out with my baby in my hand and a breastfeeding cover around my neck." So I sat back down and put my baby in her stroller then he threatened to call the police." I said for what?! Ok call the police please since you are harassing me while I am trying to leave.” He took out his phone and just stood there as I packed up my baby and breastfeeding cover. All the other customers in the store were watching and one lady even said to him that had I been a white woman that he would have never approached me like that. He then said that he throws white people out of the store too. I was livid and near tears at this point. As I was exiting I told him that I need his name because I would be calling the corporate office since he was so rude to me. He proudly proclaimed that his name was Ryan as if he was so sure that my complaints would not matter. The Walmart employees that were watching the incident approached me and said that there have been a lot of complaints about the Burger king and that he treats people like that because his father owns the store. I called the burger king corporate office and filed a complaint. Moments after doing that I get a call from the same Ryan that just disrespected me in the Burger king! At that point he was harassing me because he received an email about my complaint to prove that he is untouchable. I then went to the Walmart store manager Paul and explained what happened to him what just happened and he apologized on their behalf. I told him that I want something to be done about them since they are a lease holder of Walmart's and I was a Walmart customer. He said that he will send a complaint to the Walmart corporate office that holds their lease. He gave me his card so that I can follow up with him. While I was there at the Walmart several employees and an assistant manager said that they were too discriminated against by that same Walmart employee Ryan. I am following up with the Walmart corporate office as well. I want something to be done about this which is why I am writing to all local news outlets. No one should feel the way they made me feel today. I felt hurt, angry and threatened by Ryan with my baby in my arms. I would like for them to be shut down! Two Tacos for $ 1.69 a great deal! The restaurant is very clean bright and organized. The selection of soft drinks is impressive. This Burger King offers HC products which on a hot and humid day is very refreshing. The staff here is very customer friendly knowledgeable and energetic. Tiffany is the best employee at this establishment. She is very enthusiastic intelligent and dedicated to providing one hundred percent customer satisfaction each day. She works a variety of shifts and always is dressed professionally and has a Smile to greet you. She is a tremendous manager with strong and proven leadership skills. I bought a shake from the kiosk after buying some groceries and was told right after i already purchased it that the machine was down. I asked for a refund, the manager said they werent gonna give me a refund. He argued with me over the fact because he was gonna have the machine fixed i should just wait. I kept telling him no, i wanted my refund! This man started to threaten and intimidate me saying "Youre p** me off, youre not letting me calm down, youre lucky i dont come over there."
