The ambiance and initial impression of the restaurant was great and we had a great beginning to our meal. Drinks were great, salsa is great, our server was attentive and pleasant..there were some hiccups here and there like missing sauces, condiments, for our apps but it wasn’t a big deal it happens. However when we received our short rib from their special menu the rice was super crunchy and gritty like it had been sitting out or it was undercooked. We let our server know and the manager comes over to address the issue.

Up until this point we were having a good time so we were fine with them bringing out a new order of rice. We thought that they would take the plate but it was just left there. We were waiting and it took a little bit so asking if maybe we needed another drink or something while we wait would have been nice. The manager then brings over the rice but at that point it was just whatever and our short rib had gotten kinda cold but we didn’t want to waste it so we ate it but she was nice enough to bring two different types of rice which was a nice gesture. They do a decent short rib I won’t deny.

A little later she asks us if the short rib is good which we said yes it is. The part that was odd was when she mentioned a 50% off discount which we thought, oh that’s nice~ she’s taking care of us for the food quality issue and we thought that was very generous (it was kind of loud). We get the bill and ask our server that the manager had mentioned something about 50% off? Manager then comes back to clarify that no it’s her discount she’s mentioning and she was planning to order the short rib for herself with her discount and that we misunderstood. But we were under the impression that she was taking care of us. I did not expect it on the entire bill but at least the short rib.

We left scratching our heads thinking what was the point of saying that to us? Overall it just felt awkward and weird. Our night turned kind of sour from that experience and I don’t think we’ll...

Our experience at the restaurant was unfortunately marred by the unprofessional and unfriendly behavior of the host (a tall, thin gentleman). We arrived at 7:15 PM as a party of two, and my husband asked for a table. The host informed us that there were no available tables and suggested, somewhat sarcastically, that we could sit at the bar. He then inquired, in a similarly sarcastic tone, if we had made a reservation. My husband replied that we had not, at which point I mentioned that I had actually made a reservation for 7:30 PM (which I had forgotten to inform my husband about, in case the restaurant was full).

The host checked and confirmed the reservation but insisted that our table would not be available until 7:30 PM unless we opted to sit at the bar, as previously suggested. Despite his claim, I noticed several tables available and even observed two parties being seated before us — one who arrived before and another who arrived after us. Upon checking again, it was clear that there were tables open, and only then did the host offer to seat us.

He led us to an area with around 10-12 tables, three of which were available. I understand that some restaurants refrain from seating all their tables due to staffing limitations, but this was clearly not the case, as the service was prompt, and the restaurant was not particularly busy. Furthermore, when I made the reservation, there was no indication of a full house or a waiting list, as reservation slots were still available consecutively.

In summary, the behavior of the host felt unnecessarily rude and dismissive, particularly given the fact that the restaurant was not full and the staff was more than capable of accommodating guests. However, it is important to note that our server, Alex, provided excellent service, and both the food and drinks...

Ok I was 100% torn coming here as i'm not a big fan of "chain type" restaurants but I wanted to give it a shot as they only have a few locations. We came here last Saturday after a long day at the pool with my wife, dad and son. To say we were welcomed with open arms is an understatement. If anything it reminded me of a pre pandemic time where the service was over the top. As you may know, nowadays we accept mediocre service because finding help is still a challenge for some. Not only were we welcomed as soon as we walked in but also (i'm guessing) the GM, Floor Manager, Front Desk Manager at some point all came by and when we had an empty plate it was bussed immediately. By no means am I complaining, i'm merely pointing out its rare to have this type of service and is welcome. Whether this type of service keeps up a year from now is something to keep an eye on! My rating should actually be 3 1/2 stars only because the chips were overly salty, the rice seemed overcooked, guac was ok (I would've like a Cotija cheese option) and the beans were not great. I did appreciate 2 out of the 3 salsas (Verde and Habanero is the way to go) and the Mole was pretty tasty as it was smoky and not sweet. The chicken inside was not dry. I also appreciated the Taco Al Pastor as it was the right amount of tender meat and sweet pineapple. I get how its a family and party type atmosphere and wish them luck and will come back but not anytime soon. They do a great job of catering to kids with not only their menu but the donkeys on wheels and the 25 cent donkey rides. I didn't care for the Sombreros as it plays into Cultural appropriation.

What an unexpected & terrific experience we had on 7.17.24 at Fat Rosies in Lincolnwood. Excellent service from Adriana. Thank you for your excellent suggestions! I would also like to commend the bussers, and the young man who took our pictures. We were treated like royalty throughout our meal. I had steak fajitas and they were among the best I've ever eaten. With it, I had a guyaba (guava) margarita & Adriana suggested a cucumber margarita which was absolutely delicious!! My partner had mole chicken enchiladas and loved them as well. He was impressed that Adriana brought an extra side of mole. After our dinner, Adriana brought us an upside down pineapple/caramel cake to try & it was comped. Also very tasty! The GM stopped by our table as well. I'm sorry I can't remember his name but what a nice gesture. He, along with the rest of the staff we encountered, all seemed very happy & proud of this restaurant & for good reason. Everything, from the decor, to the vibe (plenty of Urban Latin music), was top notch. It is a rare thing nowadays to receive not only excellent customer service, but scrumptious food as well. If you are looking for great Mexican food, awesome margaritas, friendly, professional service, and hospitality taken to another level, please check out FAT ROSIES. There are currently 5 locations in Chicagoland, but the GM told us more are on the way. Free parking & patio dining as well. Thank you, everyone, who made our experience so special!!! 💗💗💗
