I have only great things to say about Lincolnwood Place. My mom, now on her second year, has acclimated wonderfully. She feels safe and supported. Key to this has been the management, the support staff and the residents. We feel we know everyone here now and it’s a friendly, supportive community. The daily activities and programs are well planned and fun for all. You can tell how much the staff cares. They do a great job and have fun with the residents and get very involved with some of their holiday/themed events. Lots of decor and costumes. Lots of celebrations:) The facility is clean and updated (beautiful dining area and gathering spaces). Her studio is plenty big and includes laundry, a full kitchen. But she never cooks. The food here is actually really, really good! I am also very happy that as my mom ages she will be able to transition to assisted living and stay in her SAME studio apartment. This was a big factor in my decision making. Memory care is also on site should she need this. Skilled nursing and rehab, physical therapy, speech therapy is all here too. She even sees a few on site specialists who come periodically (dermatology and podiatry). It’s all so convenient and for all this I feel the price point for room, board and services is very competitive. Shop around and you will see. This place is a solid choice! We’ve...
Read moreThis is a review of the SKILLED NURSING. BEWARE! My mother lived there for over a year and had 3 accidents. She had 6 stitches in her leg, 12 stitches in her leg, and during last accident, she was left alone on her side and received 21 external stitches and 6 internal. My recent experience at this skilled nursing facility has been disappointing and concerning. Many certified nursing assistants (CNAs) frequently use vulgar language and curse openly in front of residents, which creates an unprofessional and uncomfortable environment. The nurses on staff appear disengaged and demonstrate little authority or accountability. Despite knowing that some CNAs spend time hiding or on their phones instead of assisting residents, the nurses rarely intervene or correct the behavior. CNAs also openly refuse to work with some residents with no consequences. Leadership is also lacking. The Director of Nursing seems more focused on bringing her dog to work than maintaining regular contact with residents or ensuring high standards of care. Additionally, many staff members appear more interested in taking leftover food home in MULTIPLE containers than in providing compassionate, attentive care to the people who live there. There are a few good people there. Denise the nurse and Ludi are kind and compassionate. I was there a lot. Please beware...
Read moreThis is home now. Any new place takes a while to get used to, and moving here four years ago was a good thing. I have made friends, and I participate in activities such as short story review, lunch outings, various parties and holiday celebrations, and events such as performances by guest artists, movies in house, and volunteering with the Resident Board advisory committee. I use services such as bus rides to my medical appointments and to grocery stores, and even to going out with friends to thrift shops for fun seeking a possible "Find" (like I used to when I had my own car). I can follow my own interests such as painting in my own home or going out to sing with my former group. I have a close relative in the area. We visit often and I have friends, former colleagues and gardeners who visit as well. Living here is not the same as living in my old house, but it is easier than coordinating all the services and upkeep that my former residence needed. I even had a special event here for college friends who were in town for our reunion. I took them to lunch in our Bistro Room. They each had steak salad and sent thanks to the chef. They liked where I live and that made...
