I don't normally rate places 1-star. They usually have some redeeming qualities.
The only pro I can come up with is that it's a nice looking building, and we did get seated a bit sooner than they initially quoted (30 minute quote time, Sat in 10.)
Cons: The rotating servers, in some places it works very well, when the staff jives well and works as a team. Here...That wasn't the case so much. They were all over the place. Servers kept trying to serve us food that wasn't ours, and nobody seemed to have any idea as to what was going on at any table.
Drinks were never right. Our friends ordered waters, got them eventually after we asked twice about it. Then 2 separate people brought them and there was no communication. It was just....All over the place and very confusing.
I know this place was brand new, that's why our friend wanted to check it out...But this was more like a soft opening, EVERY server was in training and it was painfully obvious. It was like this was everybody's first day even though they'd been open at least a week, if not a month. Very disappointing.
Handicap accessibility: Walkways are too small, any handrails felt like they weren't secure and the floors were like....You have an easier time getting around on sheet ice, it was so slick. Not certain if there was some sort of coating, or it hadn't been cleaned properly, or it just hasn't been worn down enough. I'm not personally disabled but one of our guests was on crutches and we live with someone who is wheel chair bound so we have a critical eye for this type of thing.
I was able to stand at the top of the wheel chair ramp and without walking, slide down like I was back in Minnesota and sliding down my driveway that is slick after a good icing. No stepping at all, slid to the bottom. Not cool or safe at all.
Food: it was a tad overpriced. For example a basic cheese burger - $13.
I have no problems paying this for a well cooked burger, but the order was placed as Medium Well, and came back barely Medium Rare...That's actually pushing it.
I would have brought it to my servers attention, but going back to the service issue, he was never around. Don't get me wrong, he was very nice and accommodating when he could be.
One of our other guests also had a burger (it had bacon and avocado) and later that evening ended up sick after eating.
I will add though, that the server was willing and able to let us out through the Emergency Exit that we were near so our friend on the crutches made it out safe. We really appreciate them being willing to accommodate us in that manner.
Over all none of us were really impressed with our experience.
Again, I fully realize this is a brand new restaurant and it may be that it's growing pains and they will get better with time and more practice. I wish the restaurant all the best and that they fix whatever kinks they were dealing with as a new restaurant, but over all I have to give a 1.5 star, and while we are from out of state, I'm not certain if the other 3 people we were there with will return.
I do hope they get better though, they seem like they have potential, they just need to train their servers more, have better communication if they want the team serving method to work and just get...
Read moreMy husband and I love Bj's Restaurant, we've been dinning there often, and bringing friends and family ever since they started business at the Hamilton Town Center mall.. Recently, we went there with my nephew who was just arrived in town from Florida, for the first time ever and of course, we wanted to celebrate and have a good time. Long story short, we couldn't because my nephew made the mistake to leave his ID at home but when the server asked for it he found an expired one in his wallet , we asked to speak with the manager because the server didn't do a good job of explaining why he couldn't have a drink if their concern was his age and despite the document being expired it clearly showed he's almost 30; old enough to drink alcohol. Well big mistake askig for the manager, who I think is new because I've never seen her before. She was aggressive, disrespectful and even offensive. She had the audacity to tell me that she couldn't bend any rules just because we wanted to celebrate, she wouldnt even listen to what I had to say, I actually had to ask her very politly of course, ^can I say something " and only then, I could ask my question which was, "why even if you can see his age in the document, can't he have a drink" Anyway, with a strong arrogant attitude she said it was the law, and that she didn't make it and she definitely wouldn't brake it for us. and even though he's 30 years old, he wasn't allowed to have a drink at her restaurant period. I said, I'm really sorry you thought I wanted you to brake any rules, I just wanted to clarify the situation because I don't know anything about restaurant rules, your attitude and tone were not necessary though. Have a good night. I understand that she wants to do things right but that doesn't give her any leverage to treat me and my family wrong, as if we were criminals or something. She just had to say that they are requires by law to ask for IDs that are not expired, as easy as that.
We went somewhere else and had a great time, they didn't even ask for ID's and we were treated with upmost respect and consideration (even though I had not been there since the pandemic) as it should be because thanks to clients, especially good and regular ones, businesses do exist. I take it that there are horrible clients but it should not be a sin asking for a manager to clarify a situation such as the one I just described. I will never go back there as long as this horrible manager is there because it's not fair to be mistreated like that, I'm not a solicitor,...
Read moreFull disclosure, my one experience here was actually a carry-out experience that I did for my own birthday meal. Everything went smoothly for the pick up as they packaged everything well and it was prepared on time. i would use their carry out experience again.
For feeding my family, I selected from their Meal Deals the Pasta Feast ($45). I must admit it was a pretty good deal as you get a choice of Spaghetti and Meatballs or Chicken Alfredo, a Large Pizza from their selection of options or a BYO, a Family Sized Salad of either a Caesar or House, and Garlic Parmesan Bread. It is a lot of food and its value goes a long way with me.
We chose the Chicken Alfredo for the pasta, which came with a lot more broccoli than my daughter would have preferred, but overall everyone agreed it was very good.
We selected the Vegetarian pizza. Their pizzas have a thick crust and a generous amount of toppings, but I must admit the amount of tomato sauce and cheese seemed sparse. I didn't love the crust initially, although it could have been the transit. It had a much better crunch the next day after a re-heat in the air fryer.
The Caesar was a winner for my kids. It was also decent sized and lasted us a few meals. I personally would have preferred the House, but trying to please the kids.
I was excited about the Garlic Parmesan Bread from the online pictures as they looked like some tasty breadsticks. However, what we received were more like knots than sticks. Also, they really seemed like plain bread as opposed to having much garlic or parmesan. So they were a disappointment.
Finally, I had signed up for a loyalty account in advance knowing I intended to place the order. For doing so, they offer you a free Pizookie (7.99). They also offered another free Pizookie for my birthday. They have around 8 different ones to choose from, so I selected the Chocolate Chunk and Hot Fudge Brownie. To be honest, I didn't love either of them and didn't think they were worth $8 if I had paid that, but I didn't and they could have been compromised by the transit from doing carry-out.
Overall, if it weren't for the value of the food for the price, I probably would have only awarded 3 stars. The deal is a great value and they have some good food options. I believe you can do the Meal Deals dine in as well, which might be a more fair way...
