This was my first visit here. It has a lot of good things going for it and a few odd things. All of the food we ordered, with the exception of 1 item, was pretty incredible. The one item that was not good was their breakfast potatoes. They seemed to be sliced up and deep fried, but they were deep fried too long so they were just crunchy, hard potatoes? They had no softness or flavor to them so you couldn't taste anything and you couldn't smash them up to mix with the egg yolk or gravy that came with the biscuits. It was just not a very good breakfast potato. They tasted like burnt potato crisps. Speaking of the gravy..... WOW! I'm a gravy guy and it was seriously the best gravy I can remember having that wasn't my mothers. The corned beef hash was spot on as well.
The two things that were slightly irritating was even though you order at the counter, they assign the table to where you're gonna sit. We were sat at a table for 2 and it was tight to say the least. I'm 6'6" so most small tables don't work too well for me. The other thing that was a pain is that there is a four person table that is real close to the soda machine. All the creamer, sugar, syrup, soda and condiments are at the soda counter and everyone and their mother was trying to squeeze in between our table and that table to get there, but because that table is so big only 1 person at a time can squeeze between. It felt like they needed an air traffic controller to manage the aisle? They just need to swap that 4 seater with one of the 2 seaters that is a few tables away and boom, problem solved!
I would normally give 4 stars just for the bad breakfast potatoes alone. To me that's the most basic of things on a breakfast plate other than toast. But since the girls there were so sweet and the fact that the gravy, corned beef and the strawberry crepe were so good, they still...
Read moreScramblers Cafe is a popular spot, and for good reason! Upon arrival, I have to admit, parking is a bit of a nightmare. It took me some time to find a spot, which is definitely a downside.
Once inside, the process is a little unique—you stand in line to order, and then they seat you. Be prepared to wait, as it can get busy; we waited about 30 minutes, but it was well worth it! The menu offers a plethora of delicious choices that cater to various tastes, making it a challenge to decide what to get.
Now, I have to mention a rather unpleasant experience I witnessed while waiting. A man who was seated with his child became irate when an employee tried to explain how the ordering system worked. His reaction was uncalled for and really disrupted the atmosphere. Honestly, it’s a shame to see someone be so rude over a simple explanation, especially in a place with such great food and service. I doubt the cafe will suffer from his threats never to return—it's too good for that!
Speaking of good, the food here is amazing! I thoroughly enjoyed my meal, and the service was excellent as well. The staff was friendly and attentive, even amidst the busy environment.
Overall, Scramblers Cafe offers fantastic food and great service, but be prepared for some challenges with parking and the occasional impatient customer. I’ll definitely be back, just maybe a little earlier to snag a...
Read moreWow! I'm so glad to have a cafe like this nearby. This is a fantastic little cafe! If you're looking for a hearty, delish, & sweet for breakfast, well, look no more. This is the place to be! An American/Hawaiian/Mexican fusion of goodness! First, let me tell you where it's located; why haven't I noticed it before??? It's nestled in a shopping center next to Starbucks and Weinerschitzel in the same complex, corner of Hamner & 6th Street in Norco, Horse Town, USA!!! There is even a great sushi place we frequent. Prices are reasonable, per plate, considering the sizes! The place was packed but, they move customers pretty fast. When you get in line, they assigned you a table then, you put your order. We got served pretty fast considering it's our first time & asked a bunch of questions. 😁 Staff were pretty friendly & I believe are hired from the local community college. So, a big plus! They serve a famous Hawaiian dish called Loco Moco. Huge plate on bed of fried or steamed rice over two eggs & spam covered with brown sauce. Had to take most of it home. Pancakes, waffles, crepes in their specialty flavors and unique styles. You won't regret going. I can't wait to go back & try other dishes. But when I go, I'll make sure I go hungry! I don't know what you're waiting for...
