BLUF: Sashimi here is really good, must-trys: salmon, salmon belly, albacore, and whitefish. (Tend to melt in your mouth) Sushi also good, especially ones with eel and tempura shrimp or crab really stands out. Recommended: Ask for a side of real wasabi. =========== The fresh cuts of sashimi and in the chirashi bowl are thick and dressed lightly with sauces (such as ponzu), real kizami-style wasabi, and tobiko (flying fish roe) or masago (smelt roe). The main show stoppers are consistently the salmon, salmon belly, albacore, and white fish sashimi. I've been to Shobu Sushi a couple times and these cuts are generously thick, tender, and melt in your mouth with a melody of flavors. It rivals the quality, flavor, and prices I can find in the OC and LA county areas, and is the closest to my experience at the Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo, Japan. Additionally, the fried soft shell crab is on point with a crisp outer crust but with a tender texture packed with flavor throughout the bite. The Mackerel Nigiri is thick, tender, and satisfying. The unagi (broiled fresh water eel) is chewy and savory. I highly recommend trying the real wasabi with your fresh cuts of fish. Real wasabi is not as harsh as horse radish, and actually has a slight sweetness followed with a nice after-taste. If you order a side of "real wasabi", Shobu Sushi will give you their kizami Wasabi, which is a type of chopped wasabi and wasabi stem marinaded in soy sauce and given a thin starchy layer to lock in the freshness. It's more savory and has a delightful crunchiness not found in freshly grated wasabi (which is also a must try when you find it) that enhances the flavors of the sushi and sashimi you eat. The customer service here is really responsive and friendly, but I recommend going when they are not fully packed for the absolute best service. And if you have any issues with your order, let them kindly know immediately and they will correct it or help you the best they can. Overall Shobu Sushi is my go to for amazing sushi and sashimi in the IE, and is a great way to introduce your friends and family to sushi and sashimi for the first time. They set a high bar in quality, and if you focus on Shobu Sushi's top menu items (and possibly off menu items like the real wasabi and salmon belly), your friends and family will likely be begging to go back again.

Ive been here before and always thought the sushi rolls were good. But man did they step it up even more. Service - was wonderful. Waitress was very nice, smiling, and quickly attentive. Food - tried a fresh roll, tempura roll, snd my favorite the baked salmon roll. I get a baked salmon at every place i go to, and hands down this place has the best baked salmon roll ever. Perfect amount of rice/meat ratio, and perfect size. Restraunt - clean, good music (not too loud & not too quiet), beautiful blossom tree inside. Pricing - a little bit more than the average sushi place in the area, but i will say you do get what you pay for and if its raw meat i want the best. Worth the extra 2 dollers per roll. Will go again and recommend to my friends.

The sushi is fantastic. The quality of fish they serve is superb. I am very happy to have found this location. It has been hard to find decent sushi here in Corona. After venturing to 6 different sushi restaurants, I have found my new home. Chef Daniel is very knowledgeable and proud to be doing what he is. The staff seem very happy to be here and serving the community. I recommend ordering "Omakase". It means you trust the chef to choose the freshest fish. The whole dinner is planned out for you to savor every bite. You will enjoy what Chef Daniel provides for you. I am very happy I no longer have to travel to the coast in order to enjoy some very high quality fish. Thank you Shobu Sushi.
