Among the hundreds of Vietnamese restaurants that serve Bún Mì, Phở, I don't see how Bún Mắm Sài Gòn can compete in the current market. The amount of effort they put into the restaurant is borderline insulting to the customers. The decoration is nonexistent, and with no music, it's dead quiet aside from the sound of a dude at the next table slurping noodles.:D
The same lack of effort applies to the food. They don't even bother to provide proper silverware, just disposable chopsticks and plastic spoons. Bun mam is better than other restaurants in the area (I think they make their own heo quay so the heo quay flavors were not there, tasted like regular pork belly), but bun rieu needs more flavor. No AC, no music, my table and maybe other tables were all feeling awkward to talk because the whole restaurant was just dead silent. The nuoc mam me dipping sauce for bun mam was a little bit sour and salty, and needed some more sugar. Servers were not really attentive, they did not check on our table or any other tables. One of them was sitting on the bench with both legs crossed in the bench and on the phone...
Read moreFive stars all around! This location was recommended to me by a neighbor. Upon first walking in, I loved the warm greeting and friendly atmosphere. Music was a nice chill vibe. I don’t typically order Vietnamese food so I needed a little assistance when I arrived. Staff was very friendly and helped walk me through the items. I ordered BÁNH CANH CUA/CHẢ CUA. I will definitely order that again. Everything tasted amazing. I’ve included a picture. The portions are huge. Had enough left over for dinner that night. The rolls were great. We ordered a few more to go. Absolutely loved it. Will...
