WOW! What an amazing experience! I truly enjoyed myself here and not to mention it is Black Owned which is a plus for me! In town running errands early evening, we were looking for something different and new, we were in luck with Chef's Kitchen and Cocktails. Located in the newly renovated area of Church Street in Norfolk, the restaurant takes up the corner of 28th and Church St which is a pretty good location for locals who would like to walk to this place. For those who are driving, there is a parking area for the restaurant on 28th street and I recommend you park here to limit risk of getting a parking ticket across Church St. This place is so upscale, urban and trendy. The decor of the restaurant is beautiful. Bar area to the right and seating to the left as you come in. We were seated by our hostess and server Kayla B in a nice cozy area near a street side window, it was so cozy. Now this place has not been open long (August 2022) so they still have a limited menu however, the choice are amazing. Filet Mignon, Lamb Shank, Jerk pasta, and short ribs just to name a few. Whole wing appetizers was a hit for us and I had the best Old Fashioned that I have ever had, WOW! After eating the house wings, we did not wail long to receive your entree; I had the Filet Mignon Oscar Style cooked medium with broccolini and garlic mashed potatoes. Steak was cooked to perfection and I literally cut the steak with my fork. My wife had the Jerk Pasta with chicken and shrimp. It was enough food that she had left-overs for lunch today (lucky her) cause I ate all mine at the restaurant. Now, remember, this place is very upscale but casual. With the being said know the the price is in the "pricey" side but the food and environment is well worth it. So be fore-warned on the prices. We spent $174.00 and this includes a 20% gratuity charge which I had no problem paying. So this may not be your every night place for drinks or appetizers if you are on a budget, but if you have some money to spare, check them out. They accept all forms of payment (excluding check) and that included smart pay via your phone or smart watch. Outdoor seating is available, the washrooms are super clean and so modern like the rest of the place. Our serve Kayla B made sure to check on us, kept our drinks fresh and made recommendations. She also told us about the restaurant which we really appreciated. What an awesome experience, I will be back! OH, one more thing, this is an adult environment, so no kids but, at a place like this,...

This is a new local place and a great addition to the foodie and resturant scene. I have been following this place on Instagram anticipating for them to open. Finally, got to eat here the second week of opening.

Reservations: Easily made reservation on Open Table. I love when Restaurants use Open Table or similar apps because it tells me they are investing in the user-friendly technology to make it easier for customers to plan out their dinners but also discover their place on the app. I am one who will plan weeks or months in advance and prefer places that do reservations.

Location: It is located near ODU and in what looks like a new shopping center area. There is a free parking lot next door.

Atmosphere: It is an intimate restaurant with a good amount of seating for the space. They did well maximizing their space. The decor is very trendy. It is all photo worthy. I would guess that they are targeting the millennial and gen x population, which I am.

Service: Our waitress was a young white lady who was very nice and attentive. She was very knowledgeable about the menu. She kept our waters full and always checked in on us.

Food: For the appetizers we got the Salmon Bites. I highly recommend this. I have never had anything like this any where. It tasted like a salmon egg roll with cheese. YUM! Our waitress recommended it and it was to die for. Also, we got the Chef's Bisque which was very good especially with the fresh crab meat. For our entrees I got the Blacken Salmon and my husband got the Surf and Turf. It was delicious however, the entrees came out at separate times. My husband's surf and turn didn't come out until 15 minutes later. His steak was also over cooked. My Salmon was delicious.

Drinks: Every drink we asked for was out or missing an ingredient. We ended up getting a version of the mule and mojito. My mojito was delicious but my husband didn't love his mule.

Overall, I think the minor issues we encountered were just part of the kinks of the first couple weeks of opening. However, I still recommend this place to everyone and can not wait...

I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, I called myself trying to try a new restaurant out and had the worst experience on my birthday. When we got there it was small and tight place but I wanted to give the place a chance. When we order our appetizer it took a hour to come and we only order salads, and another hour for the food to come out. I tried the ribs entree meal, as soon as the waitress brought the plates out I told them I did not want it I had the wrong impression of what it would look like and what it would be and can I exchange it for something else, mind you I’m pregnant as well so the meal did not look good at all presentation is everything to me and if it don’t look good to me I’m not going to try it to see. I ask could I change it for something else they said no, they was not willing to compromise at all they kept stated there policy states that once u order a meal u have pay for it u can not exchange meal out nor a side out for another side or anything even if it’s not what u expected, (mind you this is in small tiny print that, and waitress did not mention anything about it when we told him this was our first time being here) but you have to pay for that meal even if u did not touch the plates at all nobody did and we had to pay 240$ for something we did not eat . I ask could we pay for what we did eat and drink, trying to be reasonable about the situation which was the salad and the cocktail they stated no they called the police and they went with there policy as well and stated if we would of left it would of been stealing. The fact that they wasn’t willing to compromise with there customers to make sure we was satisfied makes me appreciate the restaurant’s that really do go out they way to make sure the customer is satisfied, and the fact that I was with child and they still did not care at all to try to be reasonable about it and rather call the police further let’s me know this place is just all about money and no care for the customers at all and it’s a black own restaurant. Buyers be aware order...
