I debated for a while if I would leave a review and I finally decided I would when I was asked about what occurred at work AGAIN this week. Back in August myself and a co-worker ordered food. Her order was correct and mine was too besides they forgot the dressing for my salad. No biggie. I called and spoke with a young lady and asked if I could come pick it up. She advised that would be the best choice because although it was forgotten with my order, there were other orders and I wouldn't get my dressing for a while. I said ok. Needless to say, I never ended up going up there because my lunch break was about over and I saved the salad for later. This transpired on a Friday. Fast forward to the following Monday. I received a call from the receptionist on the 1st floor saying someone was there to see me. No one ever rings for me at work so initially I was caught off guard. I proceeded downstairs and it was the delivery guy from the restaurant. He began to question me and accused me of lying. He stated I called into the restaurant and told them I didn't receive my food and why would I do that. At first I was taken a back but quickly became offended. Not only did you come to my place of employment, but you called me a thief in front of my coworkers. (So much so that after I ended the inquiry, the ladies on the 2nd floor heard how he was speaking to me and asked if I was ok.) I swiftly told him he was out of line and how dare he. I told him what I actually said and that I had witnesses. I also had witnesses as to how he conducted himself that day. I was offended and embarrassed beyond belief. I then called the restaurant over the next 2 weeks but was told the manager was unavailable every time I called. I left my information and never received a call back. This is the absolute worst customer service I have ever received from an establishment. I paid to be disrespected, offended and embarrassed. I hope in the future that delivery driver has better tact. In the end after I corrected him, he said "oh well I only came to say hi". I told him he was out of line and the funny thing was he never said hi from the beginning. He said "ohhhh it's you" when I descended the steps. He was looking down his nose at me and was overall unkempt and rude. It was the older gentleman with the wirey grey hair. They lost a whole building of customers because of his disrespectfulness and approach to the situation. As disgusted as I was with him, I was more disgusted by the lack of communication from management. To this day, I have not heard from management to address what he did. To call me a thief at my place of employment and proceed to question me rather than call me and tactfully ask what happened. Granby St Pizza needs...
Read moreGranby Street Pizza: A Dependable Slice of Downtown Norfolk Granby Street Pizza, located in the heart of downtown Norfolk, is a consistent and satisfying spot for a casual meal, especially when a craving for a good slice (or a whole pie) strikes. It's not trying to be a gourmet pizzeria, and that's perfectly fine; it delivers exactly what you want from a neighborhood pizza joint, earning a solid four stars from me. The pizza itself is reliably good. They offer a classic New York-style crust that's thin enough to fold, with a nice chew and a decent crispness on the bottom. The sauce has a pleasant tang, and they're generous with the cheese without being overly greasy. I'm a fan of their plain cheese slice – a true test of any pizza place – and it always passes with flying colors. Their specialty pizzas are also quite popular, offering a variety of topping combinations for those looking for something more adventurous. Beyond pizza, their subs and other Italian-American staples are also well-executed and satisfying. The location is a major plus, right on Granby Street, making it incredibly convenient for downtown residents, office workers, and anyone catching a show or event nearby. It's an ideal spot for a quick lunch or a laid-back dinner. The atmosphere is casual and unpretentious, with a classic pizzeria vibe. It's the kind of place where you can relax, grab a booth, and enjoy your food without fuss. Service is typically quick and efficient, whether you're dining in or picking up an order. The staff is generally friendly and focused on getting your food out promptly, which is appreciated, especially during busy periods. Why not five stars? While the pizza is good, it occasionally lacks that truly extraordinary something that pushes it into the top tier of pizza experiences. It's consistently good, but perhaps not a "destination" pizza unless you're already in the immediate vicinity. Also, the interior, while functional, could use a bit of a refresh to elevate the overall dining ambiance slightly. Despite these minor points, Granby Street Pizza remains a fantastic and reliable option for a satisfying meal in downtown Norfolk. It's a no-brainer when you're in the mood for classic, well-made pizza in a convenient and casual setting. A solid four-star...
Read moreBeen coming here since moving to VA from NY in 2017 because it is one of the few places around here that actually taste like NY pizza when it is good but the food and service are very inconsistent. Sometimes it's great and sometimes it's awful. Stromboli and calzones frequently have raw dough in the middle and lack filling. Once ordered a pepperoni Stromboli and came home to find out they made me a Stromboli with pineapple in it instead. Saw a review claiming the owners rude attitude and bad customer serice can be attributed to the "up north attitude that comes with the place" that's just insulting to me as a native new yorker. Picked up a take out order today. Saw two boxes sitting there when i walked in, the waitress walked by telling me she was going to find the woman who was supposed to be at the counter handling the take out orders. Five minutes later the same waitress came back, telling me she couldn't find the other woman so she would help me. She went to pick up the two boxes i had seen when i walked in and realized part of my order was missing. She told me it would be another 5 minute wait for the missing mozzarella sticks because they were never cooked. I said by the time you cook them the rest of my food will be cold. The owner stepped in at this point, laughed at me and said "no it won't it stays hot for 30 minutes it only takes two minutes to make mozzarella sticks" even by his own time line the food would have been sitting for at least 10 minutes that i know of (who knows how long it was sitting there before i walked in) and i still need to drive home so not sure how he thought that was an appropriate response instead of just giving me my money back for the appetizer that was not made yet. He then proceeded to rush the cooks making the mozzarella sticks to get me out the door. I arrived home with barely warm food and barely cooked chewy unenjoyable mozzarella sticks. It's not a new yorker attitude to laugh at a customer and tell them they're wrong. It's just poor...
