Poor and rude staff, I, a female minor was assaulted by one of their regulars (who was a grown man). The environment made me feel very unsafe and they were very hostile towards us. We simply went to study and my male friend and I (which we are both minorities and darker skinned than our other two friends whom we went with, who are lighter skinned) were wrongfully accused of stealing a (what we assume to be a little stuffed plush that belongs to a larger plush) that we did not know even existed or looked like. While waiting for our friends food, we read a sign stating we could take a plush/toy, so long as we put it back after we were done. Three of four of us grabbed one, a man told us to put them back shorty after, so we did. The same man came to our table multiple times, threatening my male friend to just “take it out because I know you have it”. Please note that my male friend had never made any contact with the said item that was allegedly stolen by one of us, it was our other friend(who is of a lighter skin color) , the owner was called, and he kicked us out, we had asked if he checked security, and he said he was only going by what his employees said. We offered to call the cops yet he did not want to. My (one of two females)friend and I went back in to take photos of the security cameras and the sign. When we entered the establishment again, the sign was no longer there and the same man from earlier kept asking me what sign I was talking about and that it didn’t exist. While that was happening, one of their regulars, who is a grown man, attempted to take my phone away from me. A female then came and talked to me and said that there indeed was a sign, but that they took it to the back. After getting the needed pictures we left. Overall very poor experience, we expected much better, although we are banned, I can assure you we would have never returned on our own accord anyways. If I could give 0 stars, I would. The incompetence of the staff and the owner is truly remarkable, absurd accusations were made without an ounce of proof or any real foundation for a solid argument. My friend and I were both racially discriminated for absolutely no reason and they allowed one of their regulars to assault me. Truly a disappointment, and I would not...
Read moreYesterday I stumbled into this adorable coffeehaus above "Texture" in Norfolk, VA "Elliot's Fair Grounds" is located on the 2nd floor of a beautiful creaky house. As you walk up the steps to the coffeehaus theres a quintessential historical aroma from the grist foundation of the house. Halfway up the steps there is a door, which I believe leads to the abyss. (Segue: I always wanted just a random door to nothing, in the house that I choose to take root in) When I stepped foot onto the plateau of the second story there was a welcoming energy, to simply put it, it felt like home. Their decor was exceedingly nostalgic which reminds me of my hodgepodge of home. The bay window was by far the most enticing seating arrangement. Not only because of the view but also vintage typewriter I wanted to sketch. Alas, pressed for time. When it was my turn to order I realized I was so engulfed in the atmosphere I had no idea what I wanted. It all sounded so delicious and I was shocked to see they so were moderately priced. I chose their chai tea, it was sweet and robust, I got hooked instantly. Its my new flavorite & I would consider it as delicious as my all time flavorite "Eve's Temptation" at "The Witches Brew" in Hempstead, NY. Growing up close by, I was there often. I can promise you, this chai tea had some big shoes to fill. While waiting for my tea to brew I found a wall that had scattered lines & names. Immediately I knew this was a height chart. My inner child started begging me to see if I could add to it. To my surprise, my wish was granted. Exhumed by sentiments, I expressed my rapturous gratitude to pretty much everyone that worked there. Before I left, I asked if I could mail them a finger puppet to add to their daffy nostalgia. They welcomed the idea, most of the stuff came from their awesome customers. Overall, I give "Elliots Fair Grounds" 50,000 platinum stars because their delicousness is easy on the pocket but most importantly theyre the victal embodyment of nostalgic romantic (a term I use for myself often) I would consider moving to Norfolk just ao I could make this location part of my...
Read moreWe are writing to express our profound disappointment regarding the service my team and I received today at your coffee shop. As first-time visitors, we chose your establishment for a work meeting, hoping for a comfortable and productive environment. Unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfactory.
From the moment we arrived, we felt pressured to constantly order food and drinks. It was evident that our server was pushing us to make continuous purchases, creating an uncomfortable and rushed atmosphere. This was particularly unsettling as we observed that other patrons were not subjected to the same persistent solicitations. Our server even mentioned that this directive came directly from the manager, citing strict policies.
While we did purchase a drink, three pastries, and a bag of coffee beans, the continuous interruptions from the server, who repeatedly asked if we wanted anything else, were highly disruptive and frankly, annoying. There was no prior indication or agreement that we would be required to make purchases at regular intervals to utilize a table.
This kind of treatment is unacceptable for any business, especially a coffee shop that should ideally foster a welcoming and relaxed ambiance. We had clients with us, which prevented us from addressing this issue directly with the server at the time.
Given this negative experience, we will unfortunately not be returning to your coffee shop, nor will we be able to recommend it to others. I sincerely hope that the owner will see this complaint and address these...
