Great Wall — Restaurant in Normal

Decent food, awful customer service. Would not recommend.

There was a misunderstanding in a delivery I placed two days ago and because of this it never came. The misunderstanding had to do with me thinking the order was done because he asked for my card numbers then told me it was on the way. So I ended the call. It was not on the way, however. I called the place 5 times that night after I realized an hour had passed since I ordered and they did not answer the phone.

I called today and the same man who took my order that night answered. His excuse was that he put me on hold and was talking to another customer who just so happened to be in the exact same stage of the process I was in. I told him if that really was the case then you should have made this clearer as your voice was still audible and it was as if you were still talking to me. I was argued with and told, at the end, to never call them again. Now mind you, I'm not even the type to complain about food. There has been several occasions where they sent me the wrong thing or put veggies into my rice even when I asked them not to. Never called for any of those things. This was my first complaint and they treated a long time customer (I'd say I spent about $60-$100 on delivery every two weeks for the last two years) as if I was nothing.

I am going to find a new place to eat Chinese and I'll be sure to spread the word about Great Wall's...

Singapore angelhair is always on point(my favorite dish). I've been going to this restaurant for about 15 years. Hot and sour soup is amazing. Egg rolls are always great. Every lo mein is perfect and better than surrounding restaurants. I moved from Bloomington but everytime I go to town, which isn't often I make sure I stop and get some food for the family. My oldest son is 11 and he has been a consumer his whole life. He loves the shrimp fried rice. Husband and daughter love all the lo meins. Husband says the general tsos is better than any he's had. I introduced them to the best Chinese take out, Great Wall and they don't like their used to be favorites anymore. We live far away so when we order, its probably enough to feed a family of 13....but they don't mind and they never mess anything up. I've never had a complaint in 15 years!!!! Amazing service, amazing staff. Everything is always perfect. It looks "run down" but thats because the building its in but inside is always clean and spotless. An insult to all cuisine, let alone Chinese. If you enjoy eating this (looking at you, "best Chinese in Blono") then you are not hard to please and are most likely impressed by the fact that it's sweet, fatty, and not served on a bun. The "special sauce" was like a salty beef base that they forgot to mix with water. So, my Happy Family meal had a gelatinous coding that I was inclined to wash off before I ate it and tasted like griddy brown gravy. The crab meat was fake, as expected, but had the consistency of an old marsh-mellow. The chicken fried rice consisted of this: rice, unseasoned chicken slivers, and raw onion.. Need I say more? It was really just a waste of a Sunday evening meal with my son and $25 for 2 people. I should've taken they guy at the counter taking orders in a winter coat and stocking cap watching football on an old computer monitor as a sign to turn around as soon as I walked in and go to...
