McAlister's Deli — Restaurant in Normal

I have always enjoyed going to this location, and it was something of a tradition going with my friends on Wednesday nights during my first degree. From time to time, I will go and enjoy myself. The service will be mostly good, as well as the food and music. However, there have been some cases over the past two years where my order was messed up, or I was blatantly ripped off. The second to last time this happened, I asked for a bowl and they gave me a cup, while still charging me for a bowl. Today, I went in during the busy lunch rush, and the cashier was having some issues understanding why I was ordering what I was ordering. I ordered a half blt sandwich and a bowl of broccoli cheddar soup, and she was under the impression that she either couldn't do this or that it might be cheaper if I bought the whole sandwich. She entered the order, and then came to realization that I might have been right in the first place. She had already entered the order, and it was being prepared, so i kept it as it was. After I ordered a sweet tea with peach, she kept asking something about juice, au jus, or "jews". It was busy and loud, and I didn't catch it. She might be new(er) and misunderstanding happened, or this was a sublte attempt at manipulation or purposeful rip off. Possibly, with some ethnic bias. I applaud many years of good experiences, but I am sending the message to ownership and management that if anything like this happens again, I won't be kind about it after it happens and you will probably permanently lose a customer at this franchise. Pros: Everything I have tried on the menu is EXCELLENT. Good quality, quantity, and overall taste. AWESOME friendly staff!

Cons: Literally the SLOWEST SANDWICH RESTAURANT I have ever been to in my life. Like not average slow but so horrifically slow that THEY SHOULD CONSIDER DOING SOMETHING DIFFERENT. I wrote this review while waiting for my to go order i placed 30 minutes prior. It is now 15 minutes past my pickup time and I’m still waiting. It’s soooooo pathetic that everytime I order ahead, I still have to wait 15-20 minutes for my SANDWICH (it’s not a frickin steak). Staff always provides free snacks/drinks for waiting long but that is only a poor, temporary solution for a problem that has been prevelant for all 3 years...

Attempted.to wnter and dine with my sis and our kids (2) we are AA. The sign clearly read 10 pm close it was 840. We were asked to not come in bc the place qas close until 9/4 it was 8,/31. After dining elsewher we passed by returning to our residence only to see people dining in and people in the drive thru. On Sat the same sight was witnessed. Dining Patrons as well as drive thru patrons. I took it personal. I believe it was a singular decision made by a singular person who was racist and did not want to serve a small group of people of color. I dont believe the company is racist but they DO HIRE PEOPLE QHO ARE AND DONT MIND REPRESENTING THE COMPANY. DONT PATRONIZE THE ONE IN BLOOMINGTON ILLINOIS THEY DONT NEED REVENUE...
