I'm normally a big fan of Taco Bueno, but I had a disappointing/strange experience today. I ordered a combo with a large drink. The guy at the window runs my card and then tells me that they are out of large cups. I say, "that's fine, I'll take 2 smalls or a medium and a small, whatever." He says, well I've got to run this past my manager to see what we can do. I was thinking.....okie dokie? The guy at the window comes back and says his manager told him to give me a cheesecake churro to make up for the drink. I tell him I just need a bigger drink? Window guy says, "Sorry, that's what my manager told me and I didn't know what to do. Laughing, shaking my head, I drove off. When I got home, I then find that my combo is wrong. This place needs some help. Wow.
UPDATE: Well, it’s been a year since the above review and I’ve decided to give Bueno another shot multiple times. Why, I don’t know. This is just a very poor Taco Bueno location. Staff is lethargic, drive-thru wait is always ridiculously long, most times my order is wrong and the latest issue - I order 6 tacos and could immediately tell the meat hadn't been seasoned at all. Didn't even finish the tacos. Management at this location needs a lot of work. Disappointing. Taco Bueno used to me my go-to.
UPDATE: Well, still the worst ran restaurant in Norman. Stay away. At some point, this place will get legitimate management and take off. Until then, they’ll continue to be understaffed, out of ingredients, stale food, etc. I’m shocked this location...
Read moreBuenos outnumber 'Bells almost ten to one in NE Oklahoma, so I had to try this Bueno to see how good they were. I'm proud tk say I wasn't disappointed: I'd arrived at opening and the pico was ready, potatoes fried, beans hot, everything ready to serve. For about $11 I got a Crunchy Chicken Potatoe Burrito, two party burritos, a Muchaco, and a large tea. The chicken was shredded and pre seasoned with like some medium chilli powder and black ground pepper, which was a great contrast with the cool lettuce, sour cream, and side of fresh pico. The fried potato in it gave a nice contrast with the soft flour tortilla and overall was one of the better burritos that I've had from a fast food chain. The beef Muchaco was seasoned and filled to the shell edges. The party burritos had freshly warmed beans and were also decently sized to slightly shorter than a full sized bean burrito from other chains. Lastly, the tea was great! The CoViD precautions have made Buenos temporarily discontinue that salsa bar, but the pico is still readily available and offerred. So, while you could spend $16 for a small fountain drink, and three bean burritos at other places, I highly recommend driving a littke further to get a much better deal frim tgis Bueno location, because as the motto says, "it's...
Read moreAudrey and Maria are the bomb. Audrey is the only person I’ve seen at Bueno actually jog to and from registers to the dining room to the BOH…everywhere. She’s always incredibly nice and very respectful. Maybe she will say something to someone who gets a water cup and actually tries and gets a soda but you know…. that is stealing and I would say something also. I’m offended someone on here said she slammed the door in her husbands face. Definitely seems like some made up story because I go in there 2-4 times a week and she treats everyone better than anyone else, at any TB I’ve ever been to and I’ve been eating at Bueno since I was 4. I sincerely hope this store doesn’t lose her or Maria or I think this bueno would tank. There was a recent change up in GM and that transition and staff change could have been why there were complaints the past couple of weeks. They were highly understaffed a few nights I went in there after the management change up, but Audrey killed it and communicated to EVERY guest they were short staffed and there would be a wait. She really works hard and after being a bartender for 12 years, there are few people that I have seen work as efficiently and respectfully as she does. Even with the other employees… she expresses thank you and...
