Listen. Even the french fries are better than the burger joints nearby. I usually get a combination of the chicken, beef and pastor tacos (WOW) but I’ve also had the chimichanga, quesadilla and tamales—all amazing. There are chain restaurants that charge twice as much for queso/guacamole not even half as good as Volcano’s. I’m so glad there’s finally a restaurant like this in the area. I’m editing this review because I moved out of Norman exactly a year ago. I drove here from Del City because very few places in Oklahoma sell pambazos, and I was so happy to come back to Volcano’s, it still holds up. Of all the Mexican restaurants in town, this one has to have the best AUTHENTIC food I’ve ever had. I think the hardest part of moving was not being 5 minutes away anymore. Seriously do yourself a favor and try something new. Whatever it is they’ll make it delicious.

So, I love this place when I get to eat in the restaurant! They are nice and usually pretty quick. However when I order to-go, the chips and salsa is no longer considered complimentary, they charge you for it. We ordered cheese sauce, and it is consistently left partially empty. (As pictured) They will only give you one bag of chips with it. They will not give you salsa free of charge, and if you ask for it, they then charge you for it without stating that it costs extra. I'm confused why the chips and salsa is free when I sit in the restaurant, but then it is charged when I take to go. That doesn't make sense at all. Would love it if the manager could fix this issue.

Legitimately the BEST Mexican food in Norman, maybe even the OKC metro. Lived here all my life and have grown tired of the basic Tex-Mex food, so I’ve been going to this place for a little under 2 years to get my fix. It never disappoints! The food is authentic (and the chips are homemade too). It’s def a hole-in-the-wall, family owned business so it can be a little slow at times, but it’s worth the wait. Pic is of the takeout feast we had a few months back 👌🏻

Volcano’s Mexican and it's friendly staff consistently serve fantastic authentic-style Mexican food that cannot be beaten. Over the past few years, I have always struggled to find an authentic Mexican restaurant that offers excellent food in the Norman/OKC area. After receiving a recommendation from a friend, I hesitantly visited Volcano’s due to some skepticism I had from its building’s appearance. Little did I know that this outing would lead to countless future visits leaving me with the utmost satisfaction. If you have not tried this restaurant and enjoy authentic Mexican, please give it a shot! I imagine you will be pleasantly surprised by the quality and flavors of their food!

Food Recommendations Enchiladas (Shredded Chicken) (definitely try combination plate #2) Chips and queso (or guacamole) Tacos (Shredded beef) Flautas (Shredded Chicken) Tostada (Shredded Chicken) Tamales (Pork)

Generally, I am not the biggest fan of the NON-shredded (fajita-style) chicken. Shredded typically is the way to go.

Hope this helps, and I genuinely recommend this...

My family went here because we have not eaten here in a while, when I added up my ticket I realized I had been over charged. I added up all of my items(several times)and it came up to $60.95 the tax on that is $5.49 which equals $66.44 then the server says there is a table charge of $5.00 but that she only charged $3.00 so $69.44 the ticket she gave me at the table said $69.44. She brings the card and ticket back and it says $72.28. I let her know it is wrong but she says it is not and shows me a price of $68.00 and some change. Our party consisted of three adults and a 2 and 3 year old. Her math still does not work cause $68.00+$3.00 would be $71.00. Do not eat here unless you want a bunch of extra charges added to your ticket. I do know restaurants add a table fee of like 8 or more but a family of five? We should have been told before hand we also were not told of a $2.00 charge for getting two meats on an item. We have eaten here frequently in the past but never again. We will go to the one in Noble that doesn't add...

I need to say that I heard conflicting reviews . Staff very nice. There is a salsa bar, no like sneeze shield so I guess that could be an issue . I had 2 carne asada tacos which were good !! The little shrunken jalapeños on the salsa bar were yummy ! However , I found a strand of something I am choosing to believe was a strand of some pepper or something but it looked like a brown hair . If it happens to be a human I would suggest to the management to wear hair nets. I’m afraid, volcano, we won’t be back. Nice employees, so I hate to leave a not so good review ....the staff didn’t wear masks either , which probably for campus is appropriate , but for PR probably should put them on. Please rally Volcano!! I love hole in the wall joints ! Carne asada seasoning was pretty delish. Might be perfect for takeout but tamale was yummy until the black...
