In the grand ol' unofficial tradition of unsolicited testimonials I could never say enough positive things about this place in my presumably one lifetime but let me tell ya, folks: Last night aka Saturday August 23, 2025 my sister Gina and I showed up here around 5 PM without a reservation, mind you, even though it ain't our first time at the rodeo and we should've known better but even though they were setting up for a party they still made a table for us and hooked us up graciously and generously therefore everyone at La Venere will always have my loyalty and respect like the North Arlington born Siciliano/Molisano/Napolitano mutt that I proudly am. My sister Gina was treating me to a day after my 61st birthday supper and every single morsel of food that we were served was absolutely on point, impeccably prepared and mouthwatering luscious beyond words like always. I am talking about everything from the hot fresh bread, the caponata, the salads, the Shrimp Scampi for starters being just perfect. Then I had the Chicken Marsala made nice and saucy as requested over spaghetti and man, that truly made kissing my 60th year here on Earth goodbye totally worth it. My sister Gina had the perpetually amazing Shrimp Parmigiana over linguini which is pretty much her favorite and not only was it done perfectly but we are both in agreement that La Venere prepares the best version of this particular dish that either one of us have ever tasted up here in Northern NJ aka The Planet Of The Disco Fries and that's the gospel truth. After all was said and done we were way too full to follow up with dessert while we were there so we took home a couple of pieces of Tiramisu and a piece of NY Cheesecake to go and on top of every other kindness that they showed us they even threw in something extra as well, don't ya know. In conclusion, on behalf of my sister Gina and I, I would just like to say to everyone at La Venere, inside the kitchen and out, thank you very kindly for accommodating us unreserved and on extremely short notice and most of all for making me feel welcome and well fed on my 61st birthday. I look forward to enjoying many more visits to your restaurant in order to enjoy wonderful food in the company of some really...
Read moreUnfortunately, my family won’t go back to this restaurant. If you book a party here, be careful. We booked the main room for our daughter’s baptism and paid the deposit a few weeks prior to the event. We showed up with our family on the day of the event and we were told that our celebration was moved from the main room to the patio. No prior notice, no communication, nothing. We were basically told that they booked another baptism (which was larger than ours) and for that reason we couldn’t be in the main room. This particular Sunday was cold and it was pouring. The new “room” was unacceptable. It was their patio outside. While covered, it’s not the right setting for a party, especially a baptism. We had our family standing at the door and calling other restaurants that could take us right away. The waiters were trying to convince us to stay in the patio area and offered additional appetizers but we couldn’t accept to have the celebration of our daughter’s baptism on a patio in the rain. It was getting late and I had to feed my 2 month old baby. All of a sudden, I was told by one of the staff guys that was standing at the door that we had to start leaving. It’s unacceptable to say something like this to the parents with the baby. We couldn’t accept to be moved to the patio and decided to leave. It’s not the first time we dined in or organized a party at this restaurant. The food and service was always very good. Unfortunately, after the way we were treated for our child’s baptism, we won’t...
