Boulevard Diner — Restaurant in North Bergen

Poor overall

Arrived ~ 11:30am and asked to be seated in one of two empty booths at the back, hostess told us that they could not because it was a 6 person (vs 4 of us). She pointed to another booth that needed to be cleaned and offered to seat us there. We waited 5-10 min while they prepped it. There were others booths that could seat 4 people on the opposite side of the dining area and guests of 3-4 were being seated as we waited, but none were offered to us. Just as they finished cleaning, the same hostess offered our booth to a couple that had walked in. We had to interject, and she realized her error, and told we could sit. (The table settings were not put out, and we didn't have menus) A few min after sitting, we realized that one of the 6 person booths was occupied by 2 people. The waitress came to take our orders and realized we still didn't have menus, she offered coffee/drinks and returned with them and menus. The orders were eggs / pancakes all around, this took almost 30 min. The food was great, but when the server came to offer refills on coffee she never returned. We waited 15 min and tried to get someone's attention but everyone was busy. We finally got her attention and asked for the check, paid and left.

I can understand if the place was super busy, but it wasn't. Everyone (except us) was seated right away, and there were plenty of people running around that could have attended when we needed. (The hostess/cashier area had 4 people at all times)

There isn't a shortage of diners on this stretch of road. The Point diner is 1/4 mile north, and Gotham city diner is another 1/4 after that. If you have competitors that close by you need to excel at either food or service. (Preferably both)

We were seated right away and everything was going good until our drinks arrived to our table. Our waiter was very nice but when was talking something flew out of his mouth and landed in one our waters. We order boneless wings but he brought bone in wings mistakenly and fixed it brought us our boneless wings back out.it was Terrible food quality. It was supposed to be Buffalo sauce but tastes like spaghetti and salsa mixed together. They weren’t even cooked throughly. We didn’t eat anything off of our plates and told the manager (Roberto) that we didn’t like it and wanted to take it off the bill. He proceeded to tell us we have to pay because he cannot take it off since it is policy and the owner isn’t there. He also added that no one has ever complained about their food and said it’s very rude to say you don’t like a restaurants cooking. He also says we have to pay without providing us with a policy stating they can not take anything off of a customer does not like it. We respond by telling him we’re not paying so he calls the cops. The cops arrive and we tell our sides of what happened and the cops tell us we have to pay and come back the following day to get a refund because the owner isn’t there to override anything. If a business is open, shouldn’t the person in charger at the time have the authority to do that so no customer is left unhappy or satisfied? Roberto didn’t even offer us another dish after we said the wings were nasty he just proceeded to tell us we had to pay or call the cops. He was very rude and unprofessional . I highly do not...

So this is the worst time I ever came here! We usually come here alot(I get a cheeseburger) and have no problems what so ever. BUT TODAY was terrible! So... The waitress was wearing way too much perfume to work in a place in which to serve people food! I ordered the meatloaf lunch special and the meat looked like it was frozen and then put on the grill. I didn't even bother to eat it, I sent it back! Then I asked for the menu to order something else, but since I am pregnant, it's difficult to choose something that's not going to make me feel ill, I looked up to see that the waitress was over in the corner talking to the other waitress and then the bartender/ hostess/ cashier asked if everything was ok and I told her that I did not want anything. I told her I'm pregnant and it's hard for me to choose and I mentioned that the waitress wears too much perfume anyways, she looked at me like I was crazy. Then another waitress ( whom our original waitress was talking to in the corner) comes over and asks if she can get me anything from the menu. I said no , Im expecting! I asked her if she was the manager, she was so kind to tell me that he was sitting 2 tables over from us and he was "BUSY" so he sent her over to handle it...??? So I'm like ok, a customer has a complaint and he's too busy to come over here??? Anyways whatever, I'm not coming back here! I guess people in the area don't have alot of choices so they...
