El Pollo Supremo Express - North Bergen — Restaurant in North Bergen

I was here for the first time in several months. In the past this place was GREAT. You would come in and you see them grilling the chicken fresh, etc. I went today and ordered a family pack with two orders of chicken skewers. i know things are slightly more expensive, but wow. An entire roast chicken plus two sides is now $35.99. The chicken skewer is now 10.99 up from 7.99- and if the food tasted the same, might all be worth it, but NOPE. Spent $50 - what a disappointment. I asked if ownership was new I was told no. Also they charge a $1 Take out Fee, this again is also new. When I was there a few months ago, it was the first time I had seen this on my bill. So if you sit in to eat your food I presume it is FREE but if you want to take your food to go there is an additional fee. There are no signs posted outside or inside telling customers this. You see it when they ring up your bill. When I took a bite out of the chicken skewer it was COLD. I went back inside and told them it was cold- which I didn't understand because before it was fresh and they would put it on the grill on the spot. I was told that they are now refrigerated. They put the skewers back on the grill and warmed it up some more. It was bland and tasteless. We came home- the smokey flavor the chicken had before GONE. So disappointed i paid $50 for sub par meal. This place used to be amazing. Will not be spending money...

I went to have lunch I ordered grilled chicken sandwich ONLY all of a sudden I was charged 15 and change. I asked for what oh you got the combo. Ummmmmm no I didn't I ordered a sandwich only I waited 20 min and then they brought it and It was not what I ordered they gave me a chicken cutlet that was fried I cannot eat fried foods So I told the guy I didn't order this he said you said crispy chicken I said no it didn't I said grilled so they made me another 1 another 20 minutes I had to wait so it's time to go back to work so I said to go on the way to work I opened it up and it was burnt grilled chicken and to top it off it had cheese on it. I'm allergic to cheese. I was already 20 minutes away And so upset the fries were cold and dark I couldn't eat nothing and spent almost $16 that I could easily want to McDonald's for $9 got a full meal for less money and done to perfection my way I will never go back here 1st time going never again I was visiting in North Bergen and...

Yeah if I can give this place zero stars I absolutely would. Took my nephew out to Chuck E. Cheese and thought this place would be a good option for some good chicken. Unfortunately, the staff here desperately needs training on good customer service. I waited for my food for 40min…. However, the issue is that when my food was finally up, no one called my order and there was a customer speaking over my food where there was no barrier. I went up and asked if this was my food and the young man said “I don’t speak English” and did nothing to ask for help. Finally, brought my food to the table and noticed the young lady talking about me in Spanish to an older gentlemen and they both were looking at me.
