Literally just had the worst retail experience of my life at this Home Depot today. I'm working on a building project locally to North Bergen, and given that my commute is over an hour, I thought I'd save time by having my partner order the supplies we need for pick up, rather than having to walk around the store after making it into town. Boy , was I wrong. The order was placed just past 11am, it is now 1:47pm and I'm just now able to leave the store. We arrived and there was only one person working customer service/ order pick up. He requested help over the intercom to have someone fill our order. Help came, but not for that. A few employees just stood around socializing. Eventually he came and told us that's someone is working on our order. We kept being told someone was "working on our order" for over 40 minutes. Then when the person finally came around, apparently there was an item out of stock--we were told they couldn't just add in a replacement piece, that we had to make a whole separate order for it. We conceded. Then we realized that our original order never processed with the JB weld epoxy that we need today, so again, rather than walk around and waste even more time, we asked the gentleman who brought the rest of the order where we might find the epoxy. He said "aisle 17, on the left." Which led us to an aisle with, you guessed it, no epoxy whatsoever. My partner decided to ask another store employee, who apparently didn't know what epoxy was or where it might exist, because that employee asked another, who proceeded to pull out his phone to Google the location of the item within the store. While he did that, I ended up just walking down the hall and guessing which aisle the epoxy might be at, lucky me that my first guess was right. This experience was entirely too sad. I remember when you would come to Home Depot and you would be helped swiftly, and efficiently, by someone who not only knew what was in the store, but where it was.. 90% of the time, you'd end up being helped by someone who was a professional. For not having wanted to waste my time initially, that is sure as hell what I accomplished today. The one fantastic thing I was able to experience before leaving Home Depot today, was how immaculate the bathroom was. The cleaning crew absolutely deserves a raise.
edit TLDR; If you're on a time crunch, don't further waste your time by placing an order for pick-up here, and don't expect any of the employees to know anything about anything, not even what/ where specific...
Read moreRaising a complaint and awareness to other customers about The Home Depot and their extremely poor customer service and product guarantee. Put an online order at Homedepot.com for a Bosch 800 dishwasher on Feb 11th. It was delivered on Feb 23rd. Had it installed the proper way and not hotwired the unit and installed a GFCI outlet under the sink specifically for the unit, used it twice and received the error code c15. States that there is a flood/leak in the unit and it cuts the water tap to prevent flooding. Checked it and confirmed flooding in the base. I called home depot online and they told me to call Bosch. Scheduled will Bosch and technician came out and determined that the unit is not worth repairing because the chassis and metal has been damaged. Pictures provided below. To a customer, I would have never noticed this in the back corner on delivery. There is no damage or blemish to the front side of the unit. I was told by Bosch Global to tell Home Depot to replace because it is well under warantee. To my surprise, calling the store The Home Depot I was told to reach out to the online customer support because they sold me the product, to then be redirected to the store because only the manager can make that decision to replace the unit that completed the delivery. *BUYERS BEWARE...Home Depot has a 48 hour clause that gives them an OUT to replace or return any appliance for refund . After being accidently hungup on and transferred 3 times, I am still waiting for the store manager of North Bergen Home Depot to make a decision to approve of this replacement which was clearly not my fault. As a customer who is out $1300 who expected to purchase a fully functional appliance from a BIG and TRUSTED corporation, and now not getting that level of customer support is really disappointing and upsetting. I think this company forgot how to respect and handle loyal customers who have made The Hope Depot their goto place for hardware and parts. I followed the direction and advice of customer support who should have not directed me to Bosch but should have replaced my unit no questions asked. Their slogan, "Doers Get More Done" is false advertisement because I was blamed by support for completing this installation on my own which the Bosch technician stated that it was completed perfectly. Hey Home Depot, do the right thing. ...
Read moreNot going to lie- I have def experienced some frustration at this Home Depot in the past. But, I feel that the "me before the customer" attitude is rampant right now so I'm not so sure that it's fair to single out this store for having a few bad apples... So instead I would like to focus this review on the 2 GREAT experiences that I have recently had.
The first glowing review is for the gentleman who works in the paint department. It is always comforting when a sales rep and product specialist is more concerned about you purchasing the right product than just making the $$$ sale. Anyway, he listened to what I was trying to accomplish with respect to our home remodeling project, looked at my photos and then mixed up a special batch of paint for me. Then he compared it to the paint color that I thought I wanted... I would NEVER have imagined that the color that I picked out wasn't even close to the color that I really wanted. He didn't have to point that out to me. He could have just let me make my purchase and get on with it. But, instead, he took it upon himself to go the extra mile and show me the difference- without being pushy and obnoxious. Needless to say, the product and the color look AMAZING.
The second review is for John Krystal. This guy is the BEST! We purchased a very expensive and very beautiful custom vinyl shed from Home Depot in July with his help. There was some confusion as to the billing. They charge 90% up front and then the balance after delivery. We thought that they would automatically charge the card on file so we didn't understand why someone was calling us to collect. The calls seemed suspicious and I decided to reach out to John. Keep in mind this is 3 months after the point of sale. He was more concerned with my credit card security than collecting on the balance. He stopped what he was doing and tracked down the caller himself to make sure that it was in fact legit- straightening out the confusion and completely putting my mind at rest. Again, he didn't have to help me. He could have simply insisted that I come into the store and work it out myself with customer service. But, instead, he went the extra mile. From start to finish this guy was a champion for the customer. Its that kind of service that keeps us...
