I’m a resident and never have been inside this new place until yesterday. I was happy to support the community and buy my daughter a gelato. The outside looks very inviting however it wasn’t so much once we entered. There was only one family ahead of us in line and it consisted of 4 people. There was 3 young girls working and all were busy. One light skin with blonde hair approached my side and didn’t even greet me or acknowledge me, and I already had been there standing for 10 minutes. I said hello, she looked and didn’t say hi back or hold on a sec. She came back around and seen she was assisting the next person who came after me- I just waited patiently- however I seen a fruit fly flying inside the display where the lemon cakes and cake pops were- so i told her. She didn’t care I guess because she didn’t even apologize or again acknowledge me . At this point I figured maybe she only spoke Spanish - but I doubt it since she didn’t make a gesture of acknowledgment. I was taken care by another girl who seemed new because she was asking another girl how to charge on the register. I asked her for a unicorn gelato which had sprinkles on them. She gave me the unicorn gelato on the cone like I asked except she charged me extra for sprinkles topping . I didn’t even bother to ask her why since the unicorn gelato already had sprinkles - she just scooped some of the side with none. I just wanted to get out of there and support the business so I stood shut and walked out . Will I be back ? Probably not. My recommendation is better train the staff or have an adult. Everyone seemed pretty young and lacked skills. The gelato wasn’t great either but one good thing I can say is it’s a good spot because it’s a right across from a park and there’s lots of kids.best of luck If you do Go in here- make sure you record , they are rude and overcharge - beware . Also make sure you look...
Read moreYum! Love Vico’s Gelato and Caffe. I come here with my family often. Selection is great, quality superb, outdoor area is lovely despite the noise from Bergenline on summer weekends. Best of all, it’s an excellent coffee place too. Order the afogato and you won’t regret it guaranteed.
Vico has friendly dedicated staff who is always on top of their game even when the place is packed. Shout out to the employees here who always hustle to make sure every customer is happy and the line keeps moving. I never see them crack under pressure.
The interior is nice too, with big spacious windows facing both Bergenline and 79th Street. The space is mostly white with wooden tones, and doesn’t feel cluttered even when there’s a rush. Bathroom was clean, which is a big plus. I often recommend this place to others.
The one thing I do not like about Vico Gelato is the 1 pint to-go containers. They are very floppy, impossible to close, and are very messy. I love bringing back Vico's Gelato home to my wife, but I always get frustrated with these flimsy containers. If you're reading this and you're the owner, please get better single...
