As a native Michigander, I can remember visiting the Jersey shore and seeing a Wawa for the first time . My friends laughed as I joked around, laughing at the ridiculous and jovial name of the place...... I stopped laughing when I saw just what a Wawa really was. I moved to Hudson county about a year and a half ago and freeways are busy. Totally Ave and Kennedy boulevard are no joke. Gridlocked and, stop lights so short you slam the brake just as quickly as I accelerate at the green....gas is expensive, some spots are less than appealing, especially as a single woman. In addition, the heavy traffic and ridiculous "turn-right to turn left- to go the other way" traffic flow BS make it beyond Difficult to pull into some of these places ....it can make being a car owner and NJ driver a real headache.
I do a lot of volunteer work and work very strange hours so there's frequently days of the week. I'm getting home at 3:00 or 4:00, even 5:00 in the morning and it is few and far between to find a safe well-lit , fully stocked, 24/7 joint for all of your needs and desires, lol. Fuel and refreshments, clean restrooms, TONS OF PARKING, ALWAYS LOCAL LOWEST FUEL COST....Wawa on Tonnelle Ave, North Bergen is Always my top choice when I need to stop- whether I'm headed out or coming home. So yeah the business is amazing but the real reason that I come to this store 5,6 times a week? HAROLD!!!! WOW IS THIS GUY PHENOMENAL!! I remember finding a stray dog in Paterson on a 4th of July weekend last year, I had no dog food. Every store was closed. This poor thing and been running so long that his paws were literally bleeding..... I needed to give him some good quality, nourishing food that would be safe and healthy enough for him to eat.... I pulled into Wawa and I was having a conversation with Harold and he went above and beyond and had me order An entree off the menu, it had several things really wouldn't be fit for a dog and there was no way to modify it appropriately on the menu he didn't hesitate at all, he got me some fresh chicken and rice dish for the dog and a large container for water and even came to the car to meet him..... It was really nice that he was willing to abandon the box most people think within, and HELP ME FEED THE POOR BABY! I'm a die-hard believer in hospitality and amazing customer service no matter what your position, no matter what company you work for and no matter what time of day or situation you're dealing with in your life..... Most of the world disregards customer service and interpersonal communication when it comes working in the service industry where you're public facing. In the year and a half I've been coming to this location. I've seen a myriad of circumstances and energies affect the business and the surrounding businesses/community And I have never seen Harold act on professionally. He's always a pleasure. He greets you with a smile. He's good at his job. I watch the way he interacts with the employees while he's managing his shift and it has really left me speechless to see this man in action . Wawa IS BLESSED TO HAVE SUCH AN INCREDIBLE EMPLOYEE on their team. I always feel welcome and I always get great service so I'm so...
Read moreHey Wawa North Bergen. You have awesome food and treats at all available hours. You also have nice motivated staff working at night except for one. The lady with the blonde braided hair - name is Kathy is a real piece of work. She is nasty as they come and most probably she picked her customer to be nice to. If you come at night and you see someone with that resemblance - don't bother ask her any questions or request anything because she will fight with you.
She have no respect for her co worker too - which is not a surprised since all the other people that are working at night there are super nice and I guess they just leave her alone. The problem with Kathy is her negative attitude where if there are any question with your order - she will be rude to you then fight with you and push your button until you get so frustrated and say stuff like "What the EFF is wrong with you??" which then she immediately withdrawn into this anxiety mode of accusing you of threatening her, and that she is sooooo scared of you and starts to tremble like a Jello. All these passive aggressiveness are totally bad acting.
She could be nicer and do her job and no one would have any problem with her. Too bad that she is a miserable piece of work and it makes one wonder why is she still out there making $6 drinks and at the same time behaving like a atrocious jerk challenging people to pick fight with her. Wawa @NB why are you torturing your customer base? This person should not be given chance to interact with any customers because she is so nasty she is undoing all the hard work and efforts of other staff that are trying to do their best to serve their customer.
On your about us page online - your main slogan is "Fulfilling Lives, Every Day" - quoting "Our purpose goes beyond filling customer orders. We are committed to fulfilling lives every day and creating meaningful personal connections that make a real difference in the lives of our customers, our associates, and the communities we serve."
Kathy negates EVERY part of your credo. There were no commitment from her except to pick fight, the only meaningful personal connections is you walking out and throw away your $6 milkshake in disgust because it has been tainted with her unpleasantness since it is made by her, and the only difference that she made in the lives of the customers and communities is ruin someone's mood.
Conclusions - fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. I don’t understand what the store manager were thinking when hiring AND maintaining such unpleasant staff like Kathy. She is definitely not doing anyone – her customers, her associates and the communities any favor. Total fail! Horrible horrible person - horrible enough to motivate me to write this ultra negative review with ranking that is based ONLY on one person. Its...
Read moreToday I stopped in to pick-up a Turkey bowl I had pre-ordered. When I was handed it, the young man who made it apologized for having put it in a larger sized bowl by accident, which didn’t bother me. What bothered me was it was $8.50 and the bowl I was handed was filled about 1/3 of the way. Even had this amount been put in the smaller bowl, it simply wasn’t enough. I confirmed with him the correct amount had been placed in the bowl before asking for the manager to confirm this was the amount I paid for.
I brought the bowl over to Assistant Manager Hernan C. and just a moment after starting to explain my situation he was already taking the bowl from me and saying “This is embarrassing, I am embarrassed you were given this.” He said he would toss what I had been given and give me a whole new one. I assured him they could just add some to what I had, I didn’t want to waste perfectly good food. He said no worry, I could take what I was given (they can’t take anything back so as to not cross-contaminate) and they would give me another full-sized bowl. He added, “Why don’t you get yourself a coffee or hot chocolate while you wait?” I thanked him but said the food was more than fine.
Hernan C. totally understands customer service. He listened, apologized, and immediately offered a solution. Fast, efficient, and ready to rectify the situation to my satisfaction. I applaud his professionalism and was sure to say I did not want anyone pumunished for something so trivial. It was more about the optics which is important.
Thank you so much Hernan C. You deserve a raise 👍🏻You’re lucky to have Hernan C. As an employee, keep him...
