My December shopping at Westfield Montgomery Mall was filled with savings and a great shopping experience to be a Saturday. Yes, the decorations where set, crowds, parking challenges and plenty of holiday music. Upon my arrival I was surprised to not see traffic controls in place outside of the everyday controls. I was expecting police and traffic cones leading up to the parking area. It took some time to locate parking close to the entrances. Everyone seemed to have plenty of bags from all kinds of stores from the mall. They offer valet parking near the Nordstrom entrance (lower level garage). Nordstrom had a huge crowd and several gift wrapping tables just inside the entrance near the women's clothing. Nordstrom had extra staff and they were more than willing to help you find what you are looking for. The mall had a detailed holiday display throughout the mall and there were lines to take pictures throughout. This time of year seems to bring out the best in everyone and they were more than willing to take your picture for you. The season has everyone talking about savings and what they scored in the mall. I wanted to focus on Under Armour, Nordstrom, Macy's and ALDO. I found myself spending more than I had in mind and the savings made it easy to purchase most of my holiday shopping. I was able to visit The Cheesecake Factory for dinner and was able to grab a bar seat without a wait. The wait was more than an hour for the restaurant. I've learned over the years to go to the bar area to look for seating and most place are first come first served. This was a busy day as the college football championship games were playing and you are meeting even more people during your meal. I was surprised the mall closed at 9 pm on Saturday, December 7, 2019 with shorter holiday shipping days until Christmas. This day was a great day for my visit to the mall and I remembered to reflect on December 7, 1941. We are able to today to visit a mall, shop and eat dinner with our freedoms from the service of generations before us. I'm thankful to enjoy the day at Westfield Montgomery Mall and to see it's maintaining during the Amazon effect. This is a nice place to shop, eat and meet new people. You may consider this as an alternative to Tyson Corner Center.I will return again soon and recommend you to visit for something special that may...

Read moreThis mall is about as good as it gets in suburban DC, trying to strike a balance between targeting the surrounding mostly upscale community and the middle market. As with all retailing, it has been through a transition in recent years, but remains fairly vibrant with anchor stores Nordstrom and Macy's (including the separate Macy's Home Store which is not very active). The food court has a wide range of offerings including CAVA, Chipotle and McDonald's as well as a number of Asian stalls. The parking lots can be busy, particularly during the holidays. Because of the departure of Sears a few years ago, one corner of the mall remains vacant and plans for renovation/redevelopment are uncertain. There are some full-service restaurants including the popular Cheesecake Factory, Frank Pepe's and California Pizza Kitchen and the Nordstrom has a cafe/coffee shop. And don't forget Starbucks near the Macy's. The AMC Theater took over the pandemic casualty Arclight and it is a poor replacement but still offers a bar for cocktails/wine/beer and the usual snackbar which is a downgrade from the Arclight days. If one is looking for really upscale shopping, they'd probably look elsewhere, although there are jewelry stores here, and the Apple store is usually jammed...
