We made a special trip to Al's Seafood because it was rated high and we weren't disappointed. Part of Al's Fish and Seafood Market, the restaurant is the left bldg. You order on a big billboard at a counter then you exit to the right and enter the main dining area where they serve your food fresh. Really easy to order. We ordered a cup of clam chowder, hot lobster roll and clam strips and fries. Chowder came first piping hot which is exactly how a chowder should be. Arguably some of the best chowder I've ever had in my life! You can really taste the fresh clams without them overwhelming the chowder. Nice chunks of potatoes, spiced and salted just right. Lobster roll was perfection. A gratuitous amount of fresh lobster in melted butter all heaped on a nicely toasted roll. Perfect amount of butter so as it didn't soak into the roll. Similarly to the clam chowder, the clam strips we're fresh as if they were just caught today. Nice side of crispy fries and a good slaw rounded out the lunch time meal. An honorable mention- -their tartar sauce was just awesome! Well balanced tangy/creamy deliciousness. We were actually full but kept eating the fries for that reason. The only nitpick things are that it's expensive (just seems to be the trend these days) and the clam strips could have been cooked a little bit longer. But that's more my preference. I like very crispy clam strips. Does not take away from the high rating. Final note--Staff were friendly, helpful and checked on us frequently. I **HIGHLY** recommend stopping in for lunch or dinner at Al's Seafood for an all-round fantastic seafood meal.

Now, let's talk about the star of the show - the Crab Roll. With each bite, you're transported to the shores of the Atlantic, as the delicate sweetness of the crab meat harmonizes with the buttery softness of the roll. The balance of flavors is exquisite, leaving you craving for more with every mouthful. What sets Hampton Al's Crab Roll apart is the generous portion of succulent crab meat, expertly seasoned and perfectly complemented by a hint of citrus. Every ingredient feels thoughtfully curated, enhancing the overall dining experience. To accompany this culinary delight, Hampton Al's offers a variety of sides and beverages, ensuring there's something for every palate. Whether you prefer classic fries or opt for a refreshing salad, each dish is crafted with the same dedication to taste and presentation. The ambiance at Hampton Al's Seafood is quintessentially coastal - relaxed and inviting. Whether you're enjoying a meal with friends or treating yourself to a solo dining experience, you'll feel right at home amidst the charming decor and friendly service. In conclusion, Hampton Al's Seafood Crab Roll is a triumph of taste and texture, a testament to the culinary expertise of the chefs and the commitment of the restaurant to providing an unforgettable dining experience. If you find yourself cruising along Route 1, make sure to stop by Hampton Al's for a taste of coastal bliss. Your taste buds will thank you.

I am sure this place is rocking during the “season”. I stopped yesterday just to enjoy some fried clam strips on my way to Kittery. There was a group of 15? 16? ladies enjoying lunch, so it only sounded like July. But, next in line ordering and quick lunch service were definitely enjoyed! There was an upcharge to get onion rings instead of fries - $2.50. I had no problem paying more. In fact, I expected to do so. Unfortunately, the ORs kinda sucked. They seemed, curiously, to be a mix of two differing onions. Like half of the Pringles-y type you’d get at Burger King and half thin crunchy onion straws. Ugh. Maybe they ran out of one “brand”, and I caught them in changeover? The clams were OK, when you found decently large pieces. But, lots of crumb pieces included. I know, it’s clam strips… But, if you are gonna charge $18, I should expect a better selection. They put a squeeze bottle of tartar sauce on the table which was a pleasant surprise to the typical (too small) ramekin you expect in a place like this. Thank you! As mentioned, there was a big group just ahead of me. So, perhaps, they wiped out the supplies of clams and rings, and I just hit that bad timing thing? Could be. The cole slaw was excellent; and the atmosphere was what you expect, even enjoy, in a classic Seacoast crab shack. As for the food though, there are better options nearby.

They serve fresh in-season seafood. Bellissimo. You can takeout or order and find a table in the dining room. The food is brought to your table. Please, don't forget to tip, which can be done while ordering or at the table. They keep a clean establishment, and are service oriented. Handicap parking is directly in front of the entrance. It is a short distance to the order counter and to the table. After placing your order the staff will bring the meal to your table. The tables are located far enough apart so that it is easy to fit a wheelchair. You can have the seafood fried or baked. This is good for those of us on a restricted diet. The deep fried batter is very good. We have always found the staff to be pleasant and helpful. Parking is ample for large vehicles such as big SUVs. They are one of the few places that carry smelts. The salads are decent--good size and crispy, fresh vegetables. The dining area is big, airy and clean. The staff will bring you your meal after you place the order. Don't be intimidated by the large menu. Ordering breaks down to what fish do you want, how do you want it prepared, do you want it as a boat (which comes with chips) or as a plate (which comes with chips and slaw). You can also get your meal as a small or large side order (fish only).

We can across this gem by fluke and it didn’t disappoint! Freshness at its best our meals tasted like the ocean. Our fried Oysters, my baked Scallops and the clam roll truly the best ever we ever had. It’s a must place to eat also love the concept order first and then you take your seat. Takeout is also available and there’s a market that you can take home and cook it yourself. Can’t wait to go back I’m hungry 🤤
