Maybe I caught them on an "off" day, but I think the pizza was pretty average. It was far from the worst I've ever had, but definitely far from the best as well. The phone was ringing off the hook in this place. Takeout seems like the bulk of their business. Only a few tables inside, and the ambience is nothing to brag about. I really could care less about the scenery inside if the pizza is good. Ordered 2 small pies 1 eggplant and 1 mashed potatoes and bacon. Eggplant was decent, little lackluster on the flavor. Mashed potatoes were flavorless and a bit soggy..almost like they just took them out of boiling water. Bacon was good and crispy. Dough was a bit overcooked, and I normally like a good char. This one sat in the oven a few minutes too long. Overall it was an okay visit.....

Many websites, magazines, and media have always lauded the pizza that comes out of the ovens of New Haven establishments. Now let me tell you this: there is a new boss in the county. I have only been to this pizza parlor twice, and without a doubt this place can compete. Both the times I have came the service has been impeccable and the food has been amazing. The pizza has a very good crispiness to it and the toppings always are plenty. The sauce that they use in the pizza has a great aroma and complements the cheese well. Their calzones are also pretty good. Garlic bread is nice. Though it may seem like a take-the-pizza-out place, there is room inside to dine. I will definitely be a regular customer from now on. This place has...

Old(e)-school apizza outside New Haven, and just as excellent a pizza maker as the more famous names. Bare-bones inside, and a brisk takeout business judging from our time there. Absolute ton of Foxon Park sodas, as befits any apizza palace.

But of course, the pizza. (Sure, there's a full menu that I'm sure is great, but come on.) We ordered a pepperoni, and a mashed potato/bacon pie, and chatted with the friendly owners while they baked in the brick oven. Just delicious, crispy crust, very thin, partly charred undercarriage like the style should be, and impossible not to finish everything.

Reasonable - honestly, rather cheap - prices, and they are cash-only. Well worth a detour if you...

Walked in on a Friday night to order a pie. Saw the Hamden FD picking up 4 and thought it must be amazing. My pie was ready in 10 mins and was delicious for $20. *Update - September 2024 Called and placed an order for a pie. I was headed in to pick it up and got a call from a woman asking where I was. When I told her I was going to be there shortly and what the closing time that I saw on the website she said "yea we're closing early tonight." Isn't that something a customer should be told when placing an order? I arrived 5 minutes after the call ended to retrieve my pizza. When you order be sure to ask what time they plan to close for the day.
