I have been enjoying the food here for quite some time, between delivery and in person dining. Every meal has been amazing, every in person visit was fun. Until tonight.
We came in without a reservation and asked for hibachi. We were not initially informed of any wait, just that a little party was coming that would sit at the other open chairs, and were seated. After we ordered drinks we were told that suddenly the hibachi area will take an HOUR for us to get food. While annoying, we moved tables because we were hungry and had our five year old with us. She was quite bummed as she wanted to see the show. A waitress tried to comfort our daughter by saying she can watch another table’s dinner, or the tv.
Immediately our drinks were wrong. But the real kicker was when two other groups came in and were seated at hibachi. By this time we have ordered our dinner, figuring we would enjoy the food at least. After speaking with the closest thing to a manager, apparently she had left and hadn’t told any of her staff, I am offered a free appetizer as compensation. I ask to be left alone and we will figure things out, I just wanted to enjoy my meal.
Kumo couldn’t even get that right as a waitress came around to try and bribe my daughter with ice cream as a consolation prize along with watching the other family’s dinner. There was no question whether she had an allergy or was allowed. That only came to an end when I snapped at the waitress to let us eat and we will be going elsewhere for our dessert. Let alone that the atmosphere had very much changed and it felt like we were being rushed out.
We paid, we tipped as their service is not an a reflection of the managers to figure out a schedule.
If we were told there was an hour wait when we first showed up, yes we would have left, but we would have been returning customers. Sakura down the street probably isn’t as big of a disappointment....
Read moreA total of 4 of us went to Kumo today, and the service was poor. We waited 30 mins just for someone to take our drink order which only happened because I flagged a different waiter down. We each felt like we were being deliberately ignored by the main waiter because all of the other tables were being attended to and though he walked by us so many times, he still never took our order…. FYI we are a table of POC
Once we placed the order it took another 30-40 mins to receive it.. the food was good, however we still felt like the service was unsatisfactory and we decided as a group we didn’t want to tip.
When it was time for the bill, the waiter who originally ignored us and took everyone else’s order, approached us with the bill. We paid. He returned with the receipt and asked us to leave a tip. To which one of us replied, “we’ll leave it in cash” just to avoid awkwardness and explaining how poorly we felt about the service, hoping he wouldn’t ask again.
However when we exited the restaurant, that same waiter flagged us down while we were leaving the restaurant and already out the door. He asked why we did not leave a tip, and if we had a problem … we felt very uncomfortable and responded “no, we just changed our mind about leaving a tip”, to which he replied “well that’s very disrespectful to not leave a tip for the restaurant” to which we replied “tip isn’t mandatory, what is mandatory is the bill” and we left.
We didn’t catch the waiters name but, he is Asian, about 5’2, with brownish-black hair. Wouldn’t recommend...
Read moreI order from here all the time. Before I say this, I have a restaurant so I really don’t like to write Bad reviews. I got Spoiled steak from here twice which I looked over. But the last time I got it was last week again spoiled to the point where I almost was sick. I tried one more time because I love the food when it’s fresh. When I ordered, I let the girl know over the phone. She didn’t even acknowledge it. No apology just wanted my order, I said just please make sure that cooks know that I was complaining about the spoiled steak that I almost got sick. When I came into the place, she was in a rush because they were busy which I understand was so rude. Didn’t say hello or nothing who are you here for, which I understand no problem at all but when I got my food, I just mentioned to her about the last Few times it being spoiled. No apology no nothing. When I got home, the steak was actually amazing. Chicken was amazing, but all of the vegetables were so sour. It was completely uneditable. When this place has fresh food, it’s one of the best of me hibachi places around. But they are so inconsistent with keeping food fresh. PS usually the family members are always so nice when I come in, but this girl with a long eyelashes was completely rude and...
