“You may not be able to control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.” — Maya Angelou
Experienced a challenging situation at Starbucks today. Paige and I patiently waited for our order amid a busy time with a short-staffed team. Two ladies who arrived after us grew impatient after 15 minutes and became rude to the employees. It's disheartening to witness such behavior, especially given the challenging circumstances - a packed drive-thru, flooded mobile orders, and a shortage of staff.
Rather than questioning why they're short-staffed, let's empathize with the difficulty of finding people for customer service roles. The reality is, it's tough, and sometimes customers can be rude.
As Paige and I observe, we notice the same two individuals complaining about their jobs and gossiping about everything negative in their worlds. Trying to control every situation only adds anxiety and hinders a positive mindset. Remember, what you feed your mind flows from your mouth. Surrounding ourselves with positive, uplifting people who inspire us to be better is crucial.
Wasting energy on things beyond our control brings several issues: Striving for complete control heightens anxiety. Attempting to control everything is a waste of time and energy. Being a control freak damages relationships. Harsh judgments of others become prevalent. Unnecessary self-blame for everything occurs.
'Tis the season for gratitude and kindness, a time to uplift one another instead of tearing each other down. Let's shift our focus to the positive aspects of our lives, steering clear of dwelling on what we lack. Holidays are designed to bring joy, hope, and peace. Choose kindness and positivity, and let's make this season truly bright for everyone. Be Blessed
