This was my favorite restaurant until today, when instead of using Door Dash, we went in person. We walked into the doors facing the main road that clearly looked like the front of the restaurant, and people who worked there yelled at us that we couldn't come in that way. They wouldn't let us walk to the hostess' station, which was just a few feet away. They made us go outside and walk to the side of the building to come in. My party consisted of my husband and I, along with my two daughters and my baby grandson, who was being carried. We were finally greeted by a hateful woman who tried to make us sit at a round table in a location that was not ideal. My daughter requested a booth and a high chair. The restaurant was barely half full, so the request was not unreasonable. The hostess said we were not allowed to have a high chair at a booth for safety reasons, and my husband pointed to the booth directly next to the hostess where a family sat and had a baby in a high chair. My daughter at this point felt like they did not want us there and people were staring as she stood there the whole time holding her baby. We finally asked to be seated in the outside dining area. A few families were out there eating, and there were heaters to keep it from being too cold to eat outside. It's not freezing....but it is February. The hostess said probably not, and no high chairs were allowed there either. She told us we had to go sit at the front and wait to get permission for us to go to the outside dining area.
And so we sat and waited. I wish we had just left! They finally seated us at a table outside that is far away from any of the heaters. At that point, almost all of the tables were vacant, but we sat there freezing and have a baby with us. I keep repeating that fact to bring attention to their absolute disregard and the horrible customer service. For a party of five, at first we were given one tiny bowl of salsa and a basket of chips. Then they forgot about us, or just didn't care. We finally got up and cleared our table and moved to a table by a heater because we were freezing and WE HAD A BABY. The food was not hot or impressive. That confused me because when Door Dash brings food from Chuy's to our home half way across town, it has never been cold. It was all the way cold by the time someone finally remembered to bring us silverware. They brought us only a fork each, however, and that was unpleasant and messy. We sat there with food and no silverware or drinks for a ridiculous amount of time.
My daughter gave a tip that was way too much to the lady who I assume was our waitress. She came to our table the most, but we were just left out there and forgotten for the most part. We paid the bill online since nobody told us they would check us out or where to go. However, when we got up to leave then all of a sudden we were confronted by the waitres and some man who kept trolling around us and she was obviously thinking we were not going to pay our bill and needed to stop us. We had paid online before that by such a large increment of time that had anyone been paying attention, I am certain the payment and ridiculous tip would have already shown up at the register inside.
I am no Karen, if that's what you're thinking. With the exception of the lady who waited on us, even though I am guessing we were not in her assigned area, these people were the absolute epitome of rude. They did not even attempt to smile or be pleasant. The hostess and some lady who was working outside when we got there actually scowled at us. The hostess was ridiculous with her restrictions on seating that clearly weren't rules. Even if they were, accomodating customers with reasonable requests and smiling while you do your job is what you get paid for. I waited on tables at a Mexican restaurant for years while in high school. I know how hard it can be when it's a busy Friday or Saturday night and a large party comes in about five minutes until closing time. THIS WAS NOT OUR SITUATION. You just lost a...
Read moreMy sister and I went after church. It was busy with about a 10min wait before being seated. We got an amazing server, Carissa. She was very polite and did not rush through the normal greeting and order taking. She made eye contact when she spoke to us. The atmosphere was great with some pretty cool music playing. I was singing to my 2 month old who was loving it. I even heard a few people joining in! Lol! The food was pretty good. There was a slight problem with there not being any beans in my burrito. I didn't make a fuss. I just wanted my server to be aware. Like 2 seconds later, the manager was there. Again, I told him to just be aware and wasn't expecting anything from it. He immediately made it right by asking if he could have the opportunity to make me another one to go. Errors like this happen even at the "best" restaurants, so there's nothing to fuss about. Everything else was pretty routine.
Now, the main reason for the review has nothing to do with my personal experience as everything was great. It's what happened as we were preparing to leave. The couple behind us started to give our sweet server a hard time over nothing. They were mad that each person did not get a separate bowl of salsa when they sat down. There were two adults and a child. She stated their policy of first providing one bowl for every 3 people at the table, but she could bring more, if requested. They started talking about what happened in the past and how she should've just brought the 3 bowls in the beginning. Anyway, they went back and forth, but this young lady remained so professional apologizing for their unmet expectations, but clearly stating the policy and their ability to have simply requested more salsa. This is something you do not see often, a young person keeping their cool in hot situations. This review is for her as well as the training staff as they trained her well! All in all, I had a refreshing experience at a place I've...
Read moreHubby and I needed a night off after an awful week. We were so excited to get our steak burritos and left almost angry.
It’s Friday night, it’s busy. Had a 10 ish min wait and got seated quickly. Hiram was our waiter and came to ask for our drink order. We orders 2 waters and he asked if we wanted queso. We said no but before we could finish our sentence he took off. We just wanted to order some jalapeño dip.
He came back with water and chips and salsa. Asked again if we wanted queso and we said we would like the jalapeño dip. He said okay and left. Came back around 5 mins later with the dip and keep in mind we haven’t even given our orders yet but the table of 3 that was seated AFTER us and right next to us has already gotten drinks, drink refills, chips and had their order taken.
We shrugged it off to them being busy.
But this is when we started getting angry. He came back and took our order and we asked for more dip and salsa since we had run out. He came back later with our burritos. Asked if we needed anything and we again asked for dips and chips. In this time he checked on the table next to us 3 to times. They had already eaten by the time we were halfway through our meal and he came with just chips for us. We reminded him again about the dips.
He never came with them. My husband waited and finally asked a manager if we could get them and they were out in a few mins. He apologized and we thanked him for getting us taken care of.
Hiram checked on that table 3 more times and had them with their Togo drinks and ticket before he ever came back to refill our water which didn’t really need to be refilled so we asked for the ticket.
My husband and I were upset and disappointed. We have never ever not tipped. We always tip 20% or higher. I work in an industry that tips and I was just shocked at how many times he walked...
