My big gripe with their competition, Raising Cane's, is that their chicken isn't seasoned, and I had high hopes that Layne's would be better, but it isn't. It's the same bland, flavorless chicken that needs a sauce to be halfway enjoyable. The problem for me is that I despise mayo and all sauces that use it as a base, so I was really let down by Layne's similar reliance on it. I feel I cannot stress enough that chicken should be flavorful and well seasoned enough to not need a sauce to do the heavy lifting. They have spicy strips, too, which I tried, but while they have a little kick, there is still little to no flavor to be discerned. Their fries are better than Cane's, and they offer more dipping sauces than just the standard mayo (the Devil's condiment) based glop in a cup or hot sauce, so they have that going for them. Their bread vs. Cane's is a toss-up. If Cane's is a 2.5 out of 5, Layne's is like a 2.6. It should be against the law to serve chicken that isn't seasoned, in my opinion, and Layne's does very little differently than the guys down the street. I am sure I will eat there again, but at least I won't have any false hope of flavor...
Read moreI stopped by Layne’s Chicken Fingers in North Little Rock and overall had a solid experience. The chicken tenders were hot, crispy, and well-cooked, with the breading holding on nicely instead of sliding off like some places. Their signature Layne’s sauce was excellent—rich, creamy, and paired perfectly with both the tenders and fries. Speaking of fries, they were extra crispy on the outside yet soft inside, exactly how fries should be. Service was fairly fast, even with the drive-thru being busy.
That said, the staff could definitely be friendlier. The woman on the speaker seemed impatient, making me repeat a simple order more than once. At the window, I felt rushed—she basically shoved the food, drink, and my card at me all at once without a thank you or any acknowledgment. The location itself is a little chaotic traffic-wise, but that’s likely just the “new spot” rush. Overall though, it’s good chicken—I’d give it a 4.7 out of 5 stars, mainly just hoping they work on...
Read moreI went to eat there yesterday and I had to repeat myself several times when I ordered. The was really good and tasty though. The biggest problem my family and I had was the music. When we went in there the music was not playing which was fine, no big deal. About 30 minutes later they turned the music on. Again that was fine, no big deal. It was a good volume level. BIG ISSUE was about 5 minutes later they turned up the volume so loud in that place that nobody could have a conversation with yelling. We couldn’t hear each other at all. When some asked why the music was so loud one of the workers said very loudly in the lobby “ We don’t have a TV in here so we have to have something to listen to.” I would really like know how not having a TV constitutes blasting that music as loud as they did? Very poor...
