Pura Vida – North Miami Beach Visit: Saturday morning, September 20
I left this place in absolute shock. There were five or six teenagers supposedly “running” the restaurant, and it was a disaster. I sat there for almost 10 minutes being completely ignored while all of them stood around the cashier doing nothing. Every one of them saw me and still didn’t care. I wasn’t the only one either—other customers at their tables were complaining about the same thing.
And then there’s the atmosphere. Yes, the place looks clean, but it’s the kind of sterile, brutally modern clean that makes you not want to stay. It feels cold, lifeless, and totally unwelcoming. The furniture, the colors, the entire design—there’s nothing comfortable or relaxing about it. It’s not a café you want to hang around in; it’s a space that actually pushes you away.
The bigger issue is ownership. Leaving a brand, a franchise, in the hands of untrained and incompetent kids is beyond careless. It’s suicidal for the business. You cannot expect customers to respect a place when management shows zero respect themselves. This isn’t just bad service—it’s a complete breakdown of responsibility and leadership.

My husband, who had gotten food from another nearby restaurant, joined me, but the staff informed us that he could not eat his food at their tables.
What I found frustrating was that the outdoor seating area was completely empty at the time, and we were not inconveniencing anyone. I understand policies regarding outside food, but given the circumstances—me being a paying customer and the area being unoccupied—it felt unnecessarily rigid.
Pura Vida could benefit from showing a little more flexibility in such cases, as it would create a more welcoming and...

My Bf is allergic to cucumbers and we asked to replace them or just add more of another ingredient already in the salad and they said we had to pay more to make the adjustment. It’s a bit surprising considering these salads are not premade and they are on the pricier side. We also didn’t love the parking set up.
Other than that, Mati was super attentive and was able to salvage our first experience. We were not considering coming back as we have lots of better options. But we will probably be back because of the service we...
