If heaven had an espresso machine, it would be operated by Faith, while Kate rang up your luxurious latte with the warmth of a lifelong friend who somehow also manages your favorite Parisian bistro. CafĆ© De Paris is not merely a coffee shopāitās an oasis of caffeinated transcendence disguised as a beach-town cafĆ©.
The moment I stepped inside, I was met with the aromatic embrace of roasted perfectionānotes of chocolate, caramel, and subtle existential clarity. The ambiance whispers āYouāre in France now,ā even though your flip-flops and sunburn scream otherwise.
Kate, the cashier, possesses the rare talent of making every transaction feel like a scene from a Wes Anderson filmāwhimsical, polite, and oddly profound. She takes your order not as a mere exchange of goods and currency but as a solemn pact that she and Faith will deliver enlightenment in cup form.
Then thereās Faith, the barista, who handles the espresso machine with the precision of a concert pianist and the serenity of a monk. Watching her craft a latte is to witness the Platonic ideal of coffee preparation. I half-expected a symphony to swell as she poured milk with the geometry of Da Vinci.
In a world of soulless drive-thrus and lukewarm ambition, CafĆ© De Paris is a reminder that coffee, when done right, isnāt a beverageāitās a philosophy. Five stars, a standing ovation, and my undying loyalty to Kate and Faith: the twin muses of North Myrtle Beachās finest...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI won't even bother to tell you about our exact incident and experience, because the staff (and whoever is answering the reviews here on google) seem to deny all of the customers concerns anyways and is super defensive. But believe me, it was horrible. Shame. So let me give you a general overview instead they can't just deny and write a lengthy, wordy response to: this place is about as "French" as olive garden is Italian. Bland, overpriced, americanized, mediocre. The only thing you get here in MB that resembles "french vibes" (MB is supposed to have the spirit of southern hospitality) is what you would get in big cities in France (not quaint, small town France): bad attitude, rudeness, slow and passive aggressive service. Will never be back. Can't wait to my next trip to visit my family and spend some time in France, where you can find decent coffee and pastries for a third of the price. That's when you can actually tolerate bad and slow service, if the pastries, food and coffee make up for it. Here, it's a lose-lose...
