We spent a long weekend trip here for Labor Day. The facility itself wasn’t bad but staff was down right awful and borderline assaultive. I’d give them zero stars if possible— The facilty alone would be 4 stars. It was dated and not very inviting, especially in our room which I thought was crazy for the prices we paid ($1500+). Location was perfect and the tiki bar was a nice addition. We really enjoyed the inlet for the kids (ages 6 and 3). We were told we could use other pools on site but we chose to only use the one at our location. Now for further detail on the staff. Our group had two seperate encounters with two different security guards. My husband had our 3 year old son fishing from the little bridge that crossed the inlet, it was about midnight, and there were no sign prohibiting it. A security guard pulled up in his golf cart and said nastily “you know you aren’t supposed to be fishing here right” to which I replied no because there aren’t any no fishing signs posted. Plus we had seen people doing it the days prior. His response was “we had signs but someone stole them 3 weeks ago” in a rude tone. We told him no problem we would leave because we’re not the type to cause a fuss. Well the next day, all day and night we witness people fishing and nothing was ever said to them. I’m not as bothered by the fact he told us not to fish— only the way he said it. I mean, we had our young son there just trying to live his best life and this guy felt the need to be a Richard (if ya know what I’m sayin). And his line about the signs being stolen 3 weeks ago can’t be true because our friends were there in July and there weren’t signs then either. I probably wouldn’t have bothered to right this review if we didn’t have another issue the following day. The second issue, our friends had their boys down at the pool around 8-9pm but had forgotten their bracelets. A different security guard singled them out, from a dozen other people swimming without bracelets, and chose to get ugly with them. I’m not sure exactly what all he said prior but she ran up to the room to grab the bracelets and once she returned, he stuck his finger in her face and scowled “you better never let me catch you here again without bracelets”. Mind you, their boys were 6 years old and not being wild or crazy. Why did this man feel the need to single them out, get in her face and in my eyes, threaten her! It’s absolutely unacceptable to treat someone this way— especially when they’ve just paid big money to stay at your facility. I can’t make it make sense. What was he insinuating he would do if he caught them back? Despicable. Over all, my review is that even though the location is very nice, the facility isn’t nice enough to justify the terrible and nasty guards. I won’t be returning and I’d encourage you to find somewhere to spend your money that actually values it’s visitors.

There is a small restaurant for breakfast. Breakfast costs $20 a person. Towards the beach, there is a small Tiki bar, which is open from 11 am to 8 pm for food. Sandwiches, etc. Rooms were spacious, affordable for the area. Our room had a small kitchen. It didn't have many necessary essentials like a frying pan. Or coffee cups. I purchased them and took them home. Down the road is a bunch of little stores and restaurants. About a mile or so.

The views from the north tower ocean front rooms are excellent. I wouldn't call it truly "ocean front" as the beach is actually across a bridge/river, but it is still great. The condos themselves are good, at least the two we've stayed in. The general state of them has been really good with a few notes. Beds have been serviceable but not exactly comfortable, though maybe that's expected given the high usage. They could probably stand to be replaced more often? The sofa beds have been very uncomfortable with the sofa itself being a better sleep. That said, you should never expect much from a sofa bed, right? Kitchens have been well set up with plates, bowls, cups, etc. along with standard kitchen tools (corkscrews, woo!). Dishwashers are nice as well, and that leads to the next point. Room service has been great. Staff are friendly, have handwashed dishes, tucked our children's stuffed animals into their beds when making them, and do a great job at cleaning up while respecting personal belongings. The property itself is great for children. The beach is clean and only a short walk from the towers. (Golf cart service is available for the various condo units - "lodges" - farther inland, though we've always been in the towers.) The creek is lots of fun for the kids as it is easily walkable at low tide and there are plenty of spots to fish, go crabbing, and just play on the sand by the water. This is especially nice for littler ones who do not want to be at the ocean. The tower pools and pool by the beach are clean and well maintained. We've not dined on property, though there are many options for snacks/drinks by the pool or actual dining at the restaurant and prices seem reasonable. Someday when my spouse and I take a beach trip alone, we may stay here or may look for something cozier. But while we've got young children (currently 3, 6, 9), this is an excellent experience for them. Update: 3 years later and, minus COVID 2020, we can't picture being anywhere else yet. Everything above is still fully accurate for our experiences. Beds have definitely been a little better the last two visits. We can't say enough about this place and will keep coming back.

Everything about Ocean Creek was amazing!

Easy access to just about everything since it’s situated nicely almost halfway between Myrtle Beach proper and Cherry Grove (south tip of North Myrtle Beach) in a secure gated community with essentially its own private beach and tidal pool (the tidal pool has calm shallow waters fed by both the ocean and inland freshwater sources located between the beach and the resort) which was perfect for kids to enjoy.

We did not get a chance to try the onsite restaurants (Four Seasons breakfast buffet and the Grill at the Beach Club), but they looked very nice as well.

As others had mentioned, the tram is amazing (the drivers are all super friendly - special shout out to Rosie) and it takes you back and forth from the various accommodations to/from the beach area, leaving you minimal dragging of coolers and everything else you need for a day at the beach.

Loads of onsite pools (including an Indoor Pool and Hot Tub at Lodge II) and lots of other amenities (onsite coin operated laundry facilities in each building, practice putting green, tennis courts, a playground and more)!

Very clean, spacious accommodations with nice options for families. The villa we stayed in at in Lodge III had 2 double beds in one room for the kids and a king size bed for my wife and I. Small TVs in the bedrooms and a nice 50” in the main living area. Screened in balconies with nice views in the villas off the main living area and the adults can even enjoy their own private balcony from the king bedroom.

Directly across the street from Barefoot Landing makes it easy to get to those attractions and restaurants as well as many others nearby. The Myrtle Beach Mall is right down the street too. Check out the Player’s Choice video game store and arcade. Huge selection of games, comics, gamers’ apparel and collectibles. The arcade is awesome. Loads of old school games that just take a quarter to play like they did back in the 80s and 90s.

The value for the $ was amazing too. We stayed on a buy 5 night, stay 2 night free special, so a 7 night (Sunday to Sunday) stay was very affordable. You can choose to pay a bit more for the ocean front view and a dedicated pool in the towers facing the ocean, but again with the tram in service, it makes staying anywhere onsite very enjoyable in terms of access to the beach.

There are some additional fees for parking at $20/day (a small price to pay for the security you enjoy there), a 2.5% surcharge for paying for your stay with a major credit card versus a debit card (likely to offset processing fees the credit companies levy on all mechants) and you can either pay $39 non-refundable for liability coverage for incidentals while there or have a $200 hold on your card placed, but they are very up front about all of these extra fees, so there were no surprises.

This is a resort, not a hotel - so no one will be by daily to clean the room. You must request this as needed. Same with towel exchanges and other needs. Guest services was very responsive when we needed towels changed out and when we noticed we noticed we didn’t have a broom/dustpan in our unit and brought us what we needed promptly.

The only feedback I have for management is to get a change machine in the guest services area so folks that use the coin laundry during their stay can easily make use of it. Also - maybe put a clay basketball half court in near the beach club on the other side of the playground for kids and others that like to shoot around.

Other than just those couple of things that are more or less conveniences that could be added, I think Ocean Creek really has it all. Easily the best stay I’ve had in the Myrtle Beach area and I’ve been coming to the area for vacations for many years now. We will...

My husband left a review on day 4 of our stay and following his review, things only got worse! To recap, on our second day at the resort (Room B13), the master bathroom became unusable. While taking a shower, we would be standing in water over our ankles and then both of the sinks backed up with dirty water. Maintenance attempted to fix the problem and stated that they could not and would have the plumber come first thing in the morning. We waited all day in our room the following day for the plumber that never showed. We called again and a different maintenance worker came and attempted to fix the issue. Again, they were unable and stated the would have the plumber come first thing the next morning. Then, while we were sitting down to have dinner, the roaches decided to come out! We called the front desk multiple times, as no one would answer the phone, until finally we reached Henry who moved us to another room (Room H8). We then received a call from Christina first thing in the morning saying we would have to move to another room, as this room had other guests scheduled to come in that evening. We were told we would receive a call when our new room was clean and we could pick up the keys. ANOTHER DAY WASTED SITTING IN THE ROOM! When we finally received a call, the staff member asked if we were ever going to come get our keys??? On to room #3 in less than 24 hours! We were moved to room F8. This room had NOT been cleaned, the sliding glass door in the living room was white and you could not see out of it, the sliding glass door in the master bedroom wouldn't even close all the way, the ceiling of the master bath had water damage. Housekeeping walked in behind us wanting to know why we were in the room as it had not been cleaned yet. Once again, I spoke to Christina who apparently became irritated with my multiple calls so she transferred me to Tess, the General Manager. Tess had NO IDEA what was going on so I had to relay all of the events to her. She guaranteed that someone would be in immediately to clean the room (this was at 2:30pm), she would comp us for 2 nights, and that she would issue a gift card for 2 nights stay. We left the room to attempt to enjoy the rest of our day. We returned at 9:30pm TO A DIRTY ROOM!!! Called the front desk to be told there was nothing that could be done as housekeeping had already left and there were no other rooms available and she would leave a message for Tess to call us first thing in the morning! I requested sheets so that we could at least not sleep in dirty beds and I changed them myself. The next day, no call from Tess. I called around 10:30am to remind them that the room STILL had not been cleaned. around 11:30 I was waiting for the elevator and overheard housekeeping (in room H8 that in fact DID NOT have someone check in overnight and had not even been cleaned) talking about "that woman in F8 is requesting service, I don't know what her problem is, they are already giving her $500 back." Being completely fed up with the entire ordeal and having our vacation RUINED, we decided to check out early and go home. I requested a print out of our charges and was told they would email them to us on our scheduled check out date. I have now received and reviewed these charges and we were NOT given the refund we were promised! Our credit card company was contacted to confirm NO REFUND ISSUED! I have left 3 messages now for Tess and have YET to have a return call. We will NEVER book through Ocean Creek again after this...
