Mad Gator Grill — Restaurant in North Myrtle Beach

I do NOT recommend getting dinner at this place. My wife and I came here for a date while on vacation. I had been wanting to try gator for awhile and she (being pregnant) wanted the soft pretzel appetizer. Our server was very kind (and apologetic as our time there went on). We ordered the pretzels and they came out pretty quickly. The pretzels themselves were actually very good, the dip with them was not! Our side salads came out next and they were ok, not great but about average for a side salad. Then the entrees came out and the problems started. My gator bites were significantly overcooked but edible, really dry. The fries were ok if I dipped them in ranch but they didnt even salt them. The coleslaw was not edible, it was sour so I think the mayo had gone bad. The hushpuppies as you can see and the middle had dried out so much it was like sand. My wife had basically no food that was edible. She ordered a pork chop, mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. She tried cutting into the pork chop and it sounded like she was cutting through bone but it was supposed to be the most tender lart in the middle of the chop. She tried eating it but couldnt chew it so she spit it out. I tried it too and it wasnt edible. Her mashed potatoes had no seasoning and tasted like tv dinner mashed potatoes. The mac and cheese “cheese” was like a soup with no flavor and im not even sure what type of cheese it was. I say soup because the bowl with noodles was filled to the top with whatever it was. Our poor server had to deal with all of this and was able to get the cost of my wifes food taken off since she didnt eat it. I did eat my gator bites and fries but not the hushpuppies or coleslaw. I ended up taking her to chick fil a after this so she could actually eat. If you are going to go here just maybe order the pretzels at the bar and then leave and go somewhere else...

6/23/2025- Made reservations for party of 8 plus twin toddlers. Waited for 30 minutes after being seated for order to be placed. They were out of 3 things we tried to order. We had to ask multiple times for drink refills. I ordered the Chinese chicken salad with mandarins & snow peas, came out with the white part of the lettuce about 1 cup, more oriental noodles than anything, 3 half mandarins & 3 slivers of part of a snow peas. I asked for the person who prepared it, asked to return it, was not paying $16 for a salad like that, saddest looking salad I’ve ever seen. Brought my husband’s shrimp tacos, dumped part of the shrimp in the floor, no apology, no offer to replace. Asked to speak to manager 3 times. When they finally realized I wasn’t leaving without talking to them, he came. He said “well you asked for cook figured that satisfied you”….. “you already paid didn’t you?” I replied yes & he said what do you want me to do? I explained I wanted them to do better & know how awful our experience was. He said “well I went back & looked at the salad & it looks like we always make it” and walked off. By the way, check your bill because they don’t give you one, it’s on her hand held machine & the tip was included on each & we all almost added 25% to 3 bills totaling $250 before someone asked to look at it. Just an awful establishment, will never get another dime from our family. Look at other options & save yourself the waste of money. Too many good...

Avoid this place at all costs. We went and asked to be placed outside. We were brought to a table and upon sitting I found that the entire underside of the table was covered in spider webs and we were given menus that looked like a dog chewed on them. After ordering drinks I discovered a massive ant nest right near us. We went back inside and informed the hostess, who by the way, was dressed like she had just gotten done cleaning her house, that we wanted to move inside. She gave us some attitude but did give us a table. I started to look around and the place was disgusting. There was a spot of the floor that everyone kept stepping over, the tables were sticky and everything looked gross. My wife and I decided that we were not going to eat due to the fact that I was now uncomfortable about how clean the kitchen was. We decided to finish our drinks and leave. Unfortunately we could not get anyones attention to get a check, even though they were not that busy. I even went to the bar and was ignored by the bartender. I finally had to go back to the server to ask her for a check. She then started giving us attitude again. We did finally get our bill.....23.00 for 2 cocktails, which were served in 4 oz. glasses completely filled to over flowing with ice and so strong that I had to add water to mine. If I could give less than 1 star I would. There are so many better places to go to so...
