First, let me say I love this place and have lost count of the numerous times I’ve had incredibly good food. To be clear, I consider today’s meal atypical based on my past experiences.

I ordered my usual Grilled Fish Tacos with black beans & rice. As always, the beans and rice were excellent. The fish tacos were another story. Honestly, the first red flag SHOULD have been me getting my order served in what seemed like 2 minutes from being taken. The tacos looked amazing, but in hindsight, they were absolutely loaded with toppings and I couldn’t taste the fish, initially.

Upon a closer look, I found the fish. They were cold and barely seasoned. AGAIN, far from what I’ve normally been served. I was starving and ate 2 more bites, then decided that wasn’t a good idea which later turned out to be true. I looked for my server and couldn’t find her. The beans and rice were great and I was starving so I continued to eat.

My server finally returned 20 minutes or so after serving the platter and asked if I was done. That was surprising as at no point did she ever check in on me or ask my how the food was. She brought my bill and at that time I decided to volunteer my displeasure, the reason for it, while at the same time hoping not to be viewed as simply a grumpy old man. She was very apologetic, said I should have complained and I bit my lip to prevent myself from telling her I would have if she had ever stopped by to check on me. I gave her my credit card to pay the bill (time stamped 4:58)

When she returned, she informed me I had only been charged for the partially eaten taco. I chuckled a bit to myself and told her that was entirely unnecessary as I knew it wasn’t the high standard of quality I was normally accustomed to. I signed the check and left an additional $5 for the taco I wasn’t charged for as it was never my intent to get a freebie. Now THAT’S when the trouble started.

I did not even make it back to the resort before throwing up and had to pull over several times to do so. When I made it back to the room, I called and spoke to the manager on duty to explain what had happened and that I was now sick, apparently from the fish. She was very apologetic and professional, offering to comp the entire meal. I assured her it wasn’t necessary, declined the comp, and explained my main concern was that nobody else was served that fish. I, also, emphasized this was NOT typical of the great meals I’d had there over the years and understand that everyone can have one of those “bad days”.

The lesson learned (the hard way) was to never eat questionable tasting fish, hunt down the server, and complain loudly. It might be awhile, but based entirely on prior meals, I’ll still be back to Taco Mundo and highly recommend it to others. Just beware of cold...

This is our go to eat place in North Myrtle Beach! Jesus and Kassidy both were our servers recently! Both were professional and very personable. They really are great servers and represent Taco Mundo well. Angela was the manager on duty and always comes by the table to make things are top shelf. Excellent service. I always get Fajitas Trio. Lately the serving size and quantity of steak shrimp and chicken along with peppers and pins are minimal! The quantity of food for the price has shrunken!!! Please add more food to your entrees. They were gracious and brought me additional peppers when I showed them they were scarce on the hot plate. Overall good experience but I will ask for a FULL serving next time! Queso is outstanding!!

Recently visited and Jesus was our server, he did an outstanding job and was super accommodating 👍 Food was spot on terrific ❤️❤️. They take our gluten free requests seriously ❤️

A year ago ….Both Hannah and Mary are excellent servers. The corn chips and salsa are delicious (gluten free). Very clean restaurant and great fresh Mexican food. We usually get 4 meals out of 2 entrees. So when the check comes , we get to go containers and have leftovers the next day. Entrees are reasonably priced. The trio fajitas (grilled shrimp, chicken and steak) are the best. ❤️❤️❤️Recent trip Jesus was our server. Excellent service, food delicious and plenty leftovers for a second meal...

We were excited to come back to Taco Mundo. Last year we visit this restaurant 3-4 times and my kids had such a wonderful experience that this past year they always talked about the delicious quesadillas. When we visited today the boys quesadilla was delicious and my husband and I shared trio fajitas. It was kinda bland and asked for some sauces to add flavor. The shrimp tasted really strange- almost like it wasn't cooked all the way, like it was rubbery and with a weird after taste.

When we got our bill everything looked good but when I was signing the receipt I reviewed the bill again and saw a non cash adjustment fee. It was 3% of my subtotal. The menu didn't say anything about an additional fee, and when I inquired about it at the front the lady told me it was posted near the entrance. It's a really small sign. I asked the manager to refund me the fee since it felt dishonest and he did. I also was reading about the law about credit card fees in SC and (after 5 minutes of research) I saw a 2013 law that says you cannot charge CC fees (unless the transaction is under $10). I'm not entirely sure this is legal? I'm going to research further since I've never seen any other restaurant in Myrtle Beach do this. I was here two weeks ago and ate at 6-8 places and none of them charged me anything extra. Also, it feels shady since they don't really disclose it well. I had to squeeze by the front door to snap a pic...

First time visiting Myrtle Beach with my family for this year summer vacations and we came to barefoot landing area to do some sightseeing and shopping for souvenirs, we went to taco mundo for dinner and for last minute without reservations we got a table right away, we have Vanessa as our server for that night and she made our dinner experience here so much easier, she attended to all our needs and keep on checking on us if we needed anything, the place is well decorated and there is so many photo opportunities inside even outside seating is nice and cozy you can see the boat and yacht, the place is well maintained, bathroom is not too bad, the food is good it's freshly made and came right on time, the price is reasonable. The only downside of this place is lacking on the food and drinks presentation it should be look appetizing, I have been to so much Mexican restaurant and They usually serve food with fancy or artistic presentations, the tacos is ok , my daughter chicken tenders is too little of a servings, the steak is perfectly cooked and my husband enjoyed it, over all I recommend this place to try it and we are definitely coming back next time we come to barefoot landing area to try some of the food and drinks on the menu.

This was such a delight to visit. I originally was going to get a rice bowl, but the server suggested I try the tacos. I had asked him for his suggestion and it did not disappoint at all. I ended up getting the grilled fish taco and BBQ brisket taco. He recommended the street corn. The grilled fish taco was great, but it did not even compare close to how delicious the BBQ brisket taco was. The server kept my sweet tea flowing, I got down to 1/4 a cup left, and I had another one on the way. I told him a max of 3 is all I wanted, and he remembered that, and once I hit my 3rd glass, he brought no more and didn't even ask. That is what you call great service. Listened to me and didn't try pushing anything else on me and the wife. The atmosphere is really great there as well, if you watch the workers they don't sit idle. If they are caught up, they grab a broom and sweep of areas to keep it nice and clean. Overall, this was a really great experience, and I appreciate the banter with the server! We spent roughly $70 for me, the wife, and our 2 year old toddler. So it is a really good price for the quality of the food you are getting. I wouldn't have been upset to pay double that for what I got.
