Jeremiah's Italian Ice — Restaurant in North Port

Me and my family went in This establishment around 9:40 tonight, the employees were bringing everything in getting ready to close. Now before I leave this review I want to make it clear that everyone liked what they did or didn't ask for. Quality of product was not the issue. It took us a minute to order because we had someone that had never been there before and my husband had to translate the menu for him, this girl (blonde over processed hair) taking our order seemed like she was in a rush and had an attitude when she couldn't hear what i said about getting 2 of the same things and that we were taking a little bit long to decide (we were the only people in line). My husband handed me cash to pay ( i normally pay everything with card) i gave her the cash and i handed it back to my husband and didn't even think about giving the change for a tip to this girl (because again i usually pay with a card and add the tip there) after asking for my receipt, she immediately walks always back towards the back and starts talking loudly about how rude someone is, not thinking that it was me at first because I was in NO way rude to her at this point. Then she walked closer to where I could hear more of what she was saying and the boy working was asking her what she was talking about and then again said how rude i was and all the other stuff and he was agreeing and saying that it really is rude. the other girl make ALL of our ice gelatis, gave me mine. It was made incorrectly, and was supposed to be cookie butter ice, vanilla, and one layer of mini chips and the rest cookie butter crumbles. It was only mini chips, was just a minor miscommunication between the 2 employees. Was not a big deal until blonde girl Alexis/Alexa handled it the way she did. she told the other employee that it was supposed to be made the other way, instead or offering to remake it she asked me if she could just put some cookie butter crumbles in a plastic soufflé and I could just dump it on my Italian Ice. I thought about it for a second and was a little annoyed and just said never mind. she again start by saying how I was rude and then I didn't even tip her and how she didn't charge me for double layering, that i told her i didn't care if she charged me or not and it would have been fine if she did ( i understand, i have worked in the restaurant/customer service industry for years and have done every job from washing dished to be a general manager. stuff isn't free i get it) . Almost like because she gave me it for less price she expected something out of it. I told her if she was so worried about it then maybe she should go find a new job that doesn't include gratuity (but more colorfully), she told me that's not how it works, i said that exactly how it works and then told her she didn't do anything besides take our order and the person that ordered before us, the other girl made everything. Every time i went to turn around and leave she would start saying something else about it, in total she said something 4x about how rude i was for not tipping At this point I then became extremely rude as well (since she "thought" I was being rude). The last time she spoke about it the other girl employee (dark brown hair) started to chime in and then when i told them to just shut up and stop running their mouths, they wanted to pull the we are just trying to close card, after i went to leave multiple times but the young girl had something to say every time i went to turn around to walk away. Absolutely one of the worst customer service experiences I ever delt with. I would hope that this is not how Jeremiah's portrays business and how they plan to treat their customers. I would be extremely embarrassed if this was my employee, doesn't say much for the company or the manager (manager to manager, I'm embarrassed for you). Maybe your employees need to be paid more if they are SO concerned about getting a tip, are they being under paid? Something has to be fueling their aggression. At this point I doubt me or my family will be back...

When you think of the term Italian ice, you may think of the classic shaved ice with some of your favorite liquid flavoring on the top, but come to Jeremiah’s and you will be surprised that it is nothing like what you would think. The pictures say it all, try it for yourself. They even have an app and you are able to get rewards and discounts. A+. There is air conditioning inside, very cool to sit in. There is also a sitting area out front with umbrellas. The only thing I can say negatively, but still not worth removing a star, is the men’s bathroom was out of soap.
