Edit- Owner took responsibility 100% vs pushing blame, in his reply to my review. I view that as growth. I wish Cocodrie's much success! We knew going in it was gonna be wonderful or a bomb. Unfortunately for us it was a bomb. We ordered got our soft drinks and went to sit down. There were NO clean tables. We found the cleanest one and got napkins to wipe it off. As we are waiting for our order I noticed a nasty spider web hanging from the ceiling. Needless to say im starting to feel as if this restaurant is not taking cleanliness serious. Our order was brought out weird... First my cup of beans, that did not have enough rice. About 3 minutes later our appetizer was brought out, then 3 minutes later my friends order. A woman with a hat on and long dreadlock hair has now past all the dirty tables several times without trying to pickup even one table. We were not happy with the taste of the food at all. My friend ordered Gator and said it was very rubber like with a sauce that gagged him. The appetizer was fried pickles. The most basic I've ever had. Unfortunately for us we will not be back. It was not a good experience at all. *We were told while ordering the boudin balls we probably the best on the menu but they were out.... Needless to say we shared the beans and left the rest. $42 for a cup of beans to share at a dirty restaurant is not ideal for us. *I do have pics of everything. I will see if I can get them posted here.

Cocodrie’s Bayou Kitchen is a new gem in NRH! The decor is cool and give the place an inviting atmosphere. The staff is incredible, everyone was attentive, welcoming, and genuinely seemed to care making it an enjoyable experience. The owner is genuine and friendly, he did what he could to add a personal touch that makes you feel right at home. The food was nothing short of delicious. I ordered the Alligator Basket, which came with crispy fries. The highlight was the Gator Curry dipping sauce, which had incredible flavor. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a good Cajun spot will too. I will definitely be returning often! I saw two one star ratings: one from someone not wanting to pay when they ordered which just seems silly. The other for the cost which the reviewer listed as $10 - $20 per person. You can spend > $10.00 at a fast food joint. So the place should objectively have a five star rating as I am writing this. UPDATE: I went back for the Jambalaya and it did not disappoint.

I had the catfish basket, it was very good. The catfish was so tender, not too much breading, great flavor; it was just right. I got fried ocra instead of fries, they cooked it perfectly; loved them. The basket came with tarter sauce, lemon, & hush puppies. I love hush puppies, they also were yummy. My wife got one of their specials, the crab boil I think. She loved it, it was the perfect size for her. She also ordered the garlic butter. I got to try it, can't go wrong with butter; it had a little spice to it as well. One suggestion, need a kids menu. We ordered the shrimp basket for our boys. It was a little spicy for them, but they are young. Prices were reasonable. The service was great. I saw several people walking around checking on tables. I had to ask for extra tarter sauce, the lady was very helpful. So glad we tried this new place.

The restaurant has been open a week, so there’s growing pains that come with working the kinks out. With that said, there was about a 40 minute wait for our food after we ordered at the counter. We ordered 2 poboys, a cup of seafood gumbo, and smoked boudin dip. We found out when our food arrived they were out of boudin dip, so we got to take home an order of frozen boudin balls, which we appreciated. We also got a bushwhacker and hurricane from the bar set up.

The oyster poboy and shrimp poboy were both good as well as the accompanying French fries (didn’t come with hush puppies as stated on the menu). The drinks were both pleasantly potent, although the hurricane was syrup-y).

The seafood gumbo was a bit of a disappointment. It was watery and thin, not enough rice, and tasted like it was seasoned with boil seasoning, which made it too salty. This Cajun girl is also disappointed potato salad isn’t offered on the menu to go with the gumbo. I’ll go back and try it again and see about some of the other offerings. But, at this point, a little sad it tastes more like the other Cajun restaurants of DFW instead of home. I’m hoping as they get their bearings...

I took my girl and I here on 10/3, it's a Friday night, the line was incredibly long, and people seemed to be enjoying they're food. The problem with this place is there is no control over seating and there is not enough of it

Everyone is standing around or grabbing tables out of desperation, and also go as far to share a table with a complete stranger, that's how bad the seating is. And they just continue to take orders backlogging the kitchen reducing food quality . And the poor workers are scrambling around looking for table numbers because it's too chaotic to find them, and the bartender is doing more then they are supposed to in order to change indoor dining orders too to-go.

The owner needs to get involved and create a new system between seating and ordering, a restaurant cannot survive on good food alone, and the staff will have to navigate through this whole mess every weekend.

As a chef in a fine dining restaurant this is your biggest issue you are facing and it will end your restaurant, especially since you just opened.

The food was...
