I never review stuff on here, but I visit this bagel store about once a week and am always blown away by the customer service, fresh food, and extensive coffee selection. The staff are friendly and efficient, and the bagels are made to order and absolutely delicious. I usually get the Hungry Man and it's better than anything I’ve found in the Sneads Ferry/Jville area. One thing to note is that you should try to get there early, as their bagels are made fresh every morning and they tend to run out in the afternoons on busy days. Also keep in mind that, because these bagels are handmade fresh in-store every day and without preservatives (from scratch), they aren’t as soft toward the end of the day. I know. I hate getting out of bed any earlier than I have to, but trust me. It's worth it!
I’m also especially impressed by the variety of coffee options available - they have more flavor options than Starbucks, and the quality of the drinks is top-notch. It's clear that this business takes their coffee seriously and it shows in the final product. My recommendations would be a Funky Monkey frap if you want cold, or a raspberry white chocolate mocha if you want hot. They’ve got all the flavorings, so feel free to get weird.
The only downside to this amazing business is that it needs to be bigger to handle the rush of customers. It can get quite busy at peak times, but the staff do their best to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all. Again, remember that they’re making your food after you order it. It’s not sitting on a warmer for an hour. They don’t make it until you order it. On a side note, if you want a little extra entertainment, go in there during their busy times and listen to the Karens complain about fresh-made food taking longer than a dried-out McCrapwich.
For those who have read previous reviews mentioning MR Wings, it's worth noting that you can now dine on their slimy wings and share your meal with their in-store insects. This unique addition to the menu is definitely worth trying!
Overall, I highly recommend this bagel store and will definitely be returning in the future. Five stars! To corroborate another review, it...
Read moreWhen you first walk in the place smells amazing. The scent of fresh bagels and breads are overwhelming. To look at the bagels and pastry items your mouth can start to water. The selection of sandwiches, the prices, the selection of beverage, all so much for a very quaint place. I would love to say the food was equally as good as the smell or better but sadly I dont know. I can say that the less then friendly counter person was a little alarming. But anyone can have a bad day and dealing w public can be brutal so that can be over looked it happens. Ordering to go I just stood there and during my weight I noticed somethings at first that caught me off guard. Dirty used saran wrap thrown on the floor by a walk in cooler, half and half opened sitting out on a warm counter next to whip cream, I guess my thought would be those need refrigerated. The amount of trash on the floor next to the sink by the sand which station. Food not just paper towels had me feeling uneasy. However, once I saw the girl making sandwiches w no gloves. Slicing rolls and sub buns, patting them open w her bare hands, placing meats and condiments w her non glove wearing bare hands, grabbing a handful of diced vegetables and placing them on the sandwich. I knew then that I would not be eating my order and unfortunately would never recommend anyone to eat there. I honestly dont think this is a common practice for this shop and I might have caught them on an off day. Maybe this day there was lack of management or something. However I will say the aroma of the bagels and breads were mouth watering. The pastries...
Read moreAnother "NY Deli/Bagel" shop that doesn't live up to the hype. Don't get me wrong, the food was good, but not quite the same standard as the real NY.
Had the same issues here as I did at the NY Corner Deli in surf city...the majority of the staff is rude, they weigh the cold cuts (subway style) which is the total opposite of NY standards, and they work at a NC pace...BUT they charge the NY prices.
I honestly would've given this place a 4 or 5, but was met by a young kid who couldn't tell me what they put on an Italian combo. When I asked what cold cuts they use, he looked at me like I was crazy.
Luckily, my man from NJ saved him, stating that they use more of a generic style (ham/salami/pepperoni) type, rather than a Capicola/prosciutto/mortadella (NY style Italian combo). I only asked because it said "NY Bagel" and assumed they made it that way. The NJ native laughed and said "the good stuff" and then proceeded to give me a great experience there...which def saved the day.
NY themed delis in NC, serve as substitutes to get us by and kind of remind us of home, but sometimes fall short of the small details that make it authentic NY.
Much like what I wrote about the NY corner Deli, if you advertise that you're from NY, give me a NY experience and make me feel like I'm home.
I'll def be back here to give it another chance, as the food was good and the NJ native took the time to make me feel welcome. I plan on trying their bagels and different cream cheeses, which def...
