Food Lion — Local services in North Topsail Beach

The store itself seems okay. The employees have always been nice, they could be a bit more helpful when you ask them a question, but they haven't been rude. The selection isn't bad, although it isn't great either. Where I have my issue is the food quality. I purchased pre-made BBQ ribs that just needed warming and 2 gallons of milk on January 29th. When I started warming the ribs on February 1st, I noticed they didn't look right. I checked the package only to find the expiration date was January 21st...That's 9 days before I even purchased it. I took it back and got a refund, no problem...but they still had the expired ones on the shelf when I walked by about 30 minutes later. I had to point it out to someone that worked there. He was nice and thanked me, but the lady that did the refund should have notified someone to check right away. Also, today, February 7th, I opened one of the milks that was dated February 13th and it was rancid. I was so disgusted I dumped it down the drain. Be sure you aren't running any errands for friends or family here. Moreover, be positive that you aren't using their debit card. You will be met by policy zealots who in their dire pursuit to find purpose in their menial duties as cashiers will discard all common sense, assuming they even bore it in the first place, to mascarade themselves in the calling they surely missed as detectives. They will accuse you of theivery, despite knowing the debit cards secure pin number. Affirm that you are a liar, despite sharing a physical address, laminated and holographically stamped by the NCDOT. They will force the original card holder to defeat the very purpose of having an errand ran in their stead to bring themselves to their customer service desk to pick up their not misplaced debit card. Everything was easy to find, with great selections and fresh product. I only rated four stars because some of their prices are a bit too much. It is a beach store however. Still, that's not an excuse to overly charge on a product I can get at another Food Lion on my way home for a reasonable price. Other than that I was really happy to be able to shop here. My cashier, Alex, was AMAZING and she was SO KIND! THIS CASHIER KNOWS GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS A JOY TO BE AROUND! Y'ALL NEED MORE LIKE HER!! Because of her, I left that store with a smile on my face and a song in my heart. I'd go back, despite the prices, just in hopes to go through her line! God bless all of you for your hard work.
