Golden China Restaurant — Restaurant in North Topsail Beach

My family of 4 vacationed in Sneads Ferry in early July 2025. My husband called and ordered several items, including: beef & broccoli, chicken lo mein, scallops and shrimp meal w/ white rice, fried rice, and wontons (possibly more- it’s been a couple of weeks). We don’t regularly order Chinese food, so we were somewhat apprehensive, but we were satisfied. Calling to order- I had our orders written out with the numbers from the menu. Easy ordering. We were a bit nervous when they didn’t ask a name or number, but I wasn’t cooking another day on vacation. lol Pickup- We were about 6 minutes from the restaurant. Locating it was simple. My husband went in and came right back out with bags of food. He said it looked like many other Chinese places - nothing fancy but hard working people inside. Display- even after driving back to the beach house, getting everything out of bags and getting to apprehensive teens to come to the table- everything looked delicious and was steaming hot. Taste- For a family that doesn’t eat Chinese takeout and only at buffets once or twice a year, this food was good! We ate from it for 3 days. Price- I believe we paid around...

I will not ever go here again. We came here to order dinner at about 7:05 pm on a Saturday night. We did not get our food until 8:17 pm! We saw multiple people walk in after us and place an order and get their food right away. When we went to the counter to talk to the woman behind the counter she was extremely rude to us. there was another woman who had come into the restaurant right after us who also had to wait over an hour. She went up to the counter to complain about the long wait and to ask for her money back (which was refused) and even she got her food before we did. A small group came in at about 8 pm and saw how us complaining about the long wait and asked to get their money back because they didn't have that much time to wait and she refused to refund them their money. We were told repeatedly to "take it easy" and stop asking when our food would be ready. The first time we asked how much longer our food would be was about 7:50 and they had even started cooking it. We’ve been eating here for 3 years and the food is consistently good. It’s often really busy and you might have to wait, but our food has always been exactly what we ordered and expected. Entitled tourists and bigots are trying to put this incredible family out of business. Never any grace for the sheer volume they accommodate a lot better than the drive thrus around here. It’s not dine in. Never has been. They don’t pay for a website, like 90% of businesses in this area, and that doesn’t seem to be a problem for anyone else. Keep the menu they give you every time. English is not the parents’ or grandparents’ first language, and I have watched them politely take tons of abuse with a smile, like they don’t know what you’re saying, but they do. Mistakes with cards happen, but we’ve never had it happen. It absolutely floors me how awful people around here can act.
