Was there this past Saturday and have never experienced such horrible customer service. As a matter of fact horrible is an understatement. I completely regret choosing this place for my birthday dinner. It was a complete disaster. First of all, the owner has no integrity. The restaurant staff suggested and highly encouraged for my large group to be placed outside and insisted that it would be better outside and faster. No one ever “warned anybody about the weather” that’s just a flat out lie smh. The owner can lie all he want, whatever makes himself feel better I guess. The Problem here is not the weather, The Problem is the BAD customer service we experienced! My friend had to ask for salt more than 3 times and on the third time the waitress replied with an attitude “I promise I’ll bring your salt!” She also requested for a veggie bowl and received a chicken bowl instead. The staff Clearly noticed when the weather started to get worse and just ignored it. My friends at the end of the table were getting rained on and the staff came out brought drinks and just went back inside. We (not them) had to push the table to the side so my friend and her kids would not get wet. Next, the broken sun covers start flying all over the place and hit everyone’s back and head, the staff notices and completely ignores the situation. By now everyone is wet to include out toddlers. Still No response and No initiative to help whatsoever! UNBELIEVABLE….. “How about….. Hey guys, sorry let me try and get you guys indoor as soon as possible”! Or hey I’m going to hold out on bringing the food out until we sit you guys inside….is that ok ?….Nope, nothing. NOT A DAMN THING. Next, it’s pouring down, lightning, thunder, everything! and we have been wrestling with these damn sun covers and getting wet so we have had enough and since THE STAFF IS IGNORING THE SITUATION and has ZERO interest in helping…. Oh and by the way is still attempting to place plates on the table….WE decide to push all the tables towards the center to avoid getting even more soaked. At this point THE STAFF seems bothered that we are trying to help ourselves. The waitress is standing there watching rolling her eyes. WE literally had to ask if they could bring us inside, this was NOT THEIR idea. I strongly believe that they expected us to just stay outside and get rained on. And why the hell would you continue to bring food to the table when stuff is flying all over the place and water is getting on everyone and everything. No common sense whatsoever!!! Oh that’s right, cause you Don’t give a care since you know you’re getting your 20% tip anyway. So No, we did not leave the few plates your staff brought out, Your staff placed them out there for them to get soaked as they watched half of us walk inside. Also, half of us never even got our food in the first place and had to re-order! Orders were still messed up when they came out. Then God forbid my friends ask for a hot and non-wet plate, the owner has an attitude and is rude to my friend. Any other restaurant owner would have apologized for their incompetent staff and would have been happy to help. But No, again not a damn care in the world. Why even own a restaurant if you’re going to condone bad customer service. If your staff can’t handle large groups then don’t accept them. At the end of the day, you know that my group had lots of patience and deserved better!! I’m so sorry I invited my friends and family to this place....
Read moreAs a local, we have many favorite restaurants throughout the area to include Surf City. We were finally able to "Take Out" at Agave Azul on Friday, 07-28-2023. The small restaurant was absolutely mobbed and I could hear the grumbling from waiting customers as I parked my car. I had called in our 2 plate order and was told it'd be 45 minutes. Once I made it to the hostess who was doing her best with people stuffed into the small waiting/check-out are. It took a total of 55 minutes for my order to be ready to go. The quality of food was excellent, the flavoring was not. My husband's shrimp chimichanga was bland with a dollop of crema on the top, he was instantly disappointed(Tip: Ask for extra if you don't care for dryness.) However, I tried a shrimp from his order and it was large and perfectly seasoned. Perhaps, I'm spoiled, having had access to the best seafood in the world, sans during my husband's military assignments, but I can judge seafood like nobody's business, these were very well done! Now to my carne asada street tacos, they're my go-to food, I absolutely crave them and I understand that the ones I had in San Diego will likely not have the same flavor as the ones I find here. But goodness gracious, there should be some flavor. The carne asada was very dry and had absolutely no flavor. The dressings were scant with barely enough to make the 3 tortillas. I was so disappointed, I have had them from food trucks that would blow Agave Azul's out of the water. Presentation is everything! Take the opportunity to shine!! Add more flavor, more color, add more sauce, more crema! I missed the red cabbage that usually accompanies street tacos. The red onions (sliced but close to 2 inches too long) with a very small amount of cilantro and no pico de gallo just fell flat (face-plant flat). The $52 we spent was for a lesson learned, hopefully, they will improve where they're currently lacking. This restaurant can do so much better, the Atlantic is in your backyard, all you have to do is dress up the gifts that...
Read moreFirst of all the food was good albeit a little cold and one of us got the wrong meal and they didn’t bring the food at once. That’s about the only positive thing I can say about our experience. The service was really bad. Tried to be understanding as they were busy but there were at least half a dozen empty tables inside and some outside as well. It started when we got there nobody was at the counter and we waited 10 minutes to speak to anybody then another 30 to be seated. Our waitress was nice but very unorganized and we were approached by two different servers telling us they’ll be our server. We asked for chips and they finally did come out but said all their salsa bowls were dirty so gave us little condiment bowls for salsa. While the table next to us got bowls. Not having enough dishes for a restaurant seems like a lousy excuse in my opinion. We asked for more chips and never did get them until about 20 minutes later we flagged someone down. Not a big deal though. After 40 minutes we got our food (half of it) and one was the wrong thing but we didn’t dare send it back in fear of waiting even longer so just ate it. About 3 minutes later the rest of the food came and we didn’t have any silverware so we asked for that and we’re told all the utensils are dirty but they’ll bring some out shortly so we stared at the food and waited. I could go on about it being very unorganized and servers running around chaotically. Also waiting 10 minutes after we gave them our credit card. It took 2 1/2 hours total tonight. We wanted to like this place. The atmosphere is nice and food was ok but sadly I won’t ever go back cause of...
