Classy upscale BYOB with very nice live music and an attractive dining room. Seating is not the tightest we’ve experienced, but I wouldn’t describe it as “roomy” either. The cuisine is nominally Italian, with choices like steak, lamb, pork chops, and potatoes.
Professional, attentive service. Staff are very friendly, but perhaps not as subdued as I would have liked – talking in a loud voice from a distance to another table while standing close to our table. The bread served is authentic fresh Italian bread – much better than typical, and the second best I’ve experienced among Italian restaurants in the area. (Best bread is Angelo's Italian Kitchen in Prospectville, which in every other way does not compare to UVA.) The bread is served with a wonderful olive oil containing fresh whole roasted garlic cloves and dry rosemary; best bread accompaniment we’ve encountered so far.
Soup and appetizers were both great. We had the crab bisque, and a stuffed fried zucchini blossoms special. Soup was very rich and had a spicy kick. I thought it could have been heated through a little more. The fried zucchini blossoms were light and delicious.
For main courses: Shrimp scampi over linguini. The dish contained a generous amount of large shrimp. Pasta was not overcooked. Lots of garlic. Recommended; would order this again. We ended up taking some home. A little richer than I expected and prefer for a seafood pasta. I’m not sure where that richness came from; perhaps they added parm cheese? (One minor complaint: Shrimp did not have the last shell segment and tail removed, so you’re either getting your fingers sticky, or wasting that last bit of shrimp.)
“Rastelli prime pork chop topped with roasted red peppers & aged provolone in a white wine sage sauce.” This was also very good. Served with mashed potatoes and fresh cooked mixed vegetables. Pork chop was cooked just right. Mashed potatoes were just not bad; a bit lumpy. Lots of garlic flavor in this dish too, perhaps from the vegetables. I ate everything, even after feeling uncomfortably full, so that’s good sign. We also enjoyed a side of spinach – probably the best I’ve had. Garlicy, and served with fresh lemon.
We were too full to try their homemade desserts. This place is easy to get to, with...
Read moreI saw online that this restaurant had excellent reviews, read some of them but maybe should have read more. Went there for dinner with my girlfriend Saturday night 2/11/17. When we first walked in I noticed the place was nicely decorated and they had a singer singing and piano player, and I thought oh this is loud in the front room but nice to have live music as we were walked back to the our table in the rear room.
Unfortunately it was just as loud in the back room as they had speakers suspended from the ceiling. I'm talking almost as loud as a you would expect at a nightclub, we had to almost yell to be heard. We both couldn't believe how loud the music was as we leaned into each other at our small table for two trying to communicate without yelling. The place was very crowded but that was expected.
When the server came and read the specials we had to have her talk louder and repeat a few as we missed some of what she was saying. We asked her if something could be done about turning down the volume of the speakers in the back room and she said she would look into it. When she came back for our order she said she wasn't able to turn down the volume of the speakers. She said it was best to come during the week when they don't have live music as they do on the weekends. They have a nice menu, a little on the pricey side, about 15% more than I expected to pay but not outlandish.
If I could rate the restaurant on individual attributes it would be as follows. Food 5 stars, service 5 stars, prices 2 stars, atmosphere 1 star.
If management turned off or did away with the speakers in the rear room and lowered their menu prices by about 15%, this would be a great restaurant to have dinner at on the weekend.
If you decide to try this restaurant go during the week as our...
Read moreLast week was the first time I had ever been to Uva Ristorante Italiano in Richboro for dinner. Even though it was a Friday night, the hostess seated us immediately upon entering the restaurant. Their menu features a wide variety of pasta and Italian dishes, as well as delicious seafood. Our server guided us through the menu, including their Specials. We started out with a few appetizers. The Antipasta and Bruschetta were delicious and everything was fresh. The Zabaglione Salad was light & refreshing & had fruit, cheese and especially the dressing which made it a big hit. The dinner comes with their delicious bread and a side dish of seasoned oil. We were a party of 4, and each dinner was more delicious than the other. The portions are so big that we had to ask for boxes to bring home so we could enjoy it the next day. To top the night off, we each had one of their homemade desserts. Their presentation of both dinner and dessert was nothing short of a culinary spectacular vision. I will be going back again because of its exceptional service and food. I highly recommend that you make a...
