I had one night in Northampton, and was told that it had to be spent at the Teapot! Was really looking forward to it! The restaurant was gorgeous, and parking was available nearby (unexpected!). Once inside, we got a prime table near the window, which was also great! After that, things got a little unacceptable. Our waitress was very curt and probably super efficient, but I have a food allergy and did not feel confident that she heard/understood me when I told her about it. Our table ordered sushi and a Japenese entree, both of which were inedible. INEDIBLE. The sushi tasted like old fryer oil - there was no way to taste anything else, and it wasn't going down. We sent it back and ordered a Chinese entree in it's place, which was also really poorly done. The Japenese entree was overpowered by a really salty soy-based sauce, and the protein was cooked in a way that made me unable to eat it because of my food allergy (I am gluten free, and the shrimp was battered and fried, which just confirmed that telling our waitress about my allergy was kind of useless). The Chinese entree was covered in a sauce that was congealed and tepid and tasted super synthetic, like it was poured out of a jar or something. All in all, the meal was pretty awful - one of the most awful meals I have had out ever. I have never sent food back to a kitchen, or complained about a meal, and thus was very uncomfortable. The waitstaff did not make it easy on us. We were charged for everything, even what we sent back to the kitchen. When I asked if the bill could be amended to reflect what we sent back to the kitchen, there was a lot of conversation over my head in another language and only one of the items (the least expensive one) was taken off, leaving the others right where they were. Although we were not loud, or rude (I hope!), it was obvious that our experience was an unpleasant one, and no effort was made on the part of the restaurant staff or management to do anything other than pretend we weren't there. A dinner for 2 of wasted food, and $50 later, and I will not be returning...
Read moreI’ve never had such rude service in my life. My Friend and I walked into Teapot to have lunch. We both ordered the same meal: wonton soup, pork fried rice w general tso from lunch menu. We are served water and there are flies in the cup so we politely ask for more water. The fish tank is black and clearly never has been cleaned. Restaurant is empty except for us. My friend flagged her down for tea and the woman answered with WHAT? WHAT DO YOU WANT? Then the kicker: my friend is served wonton soup and not me. “I am getting wonton soup also right?” “No you didn’t order this!!!” The woman stated. She then proceeded to scream at my friend and I saying I didn’t order the wonton soup even as I was reassuring her I didn’t want to argue and my friend insisted she just stop yelling and bring soup for us, we will Pay for it. It got to the point where I basically said never mind I don’t want anything from here… she screamed I ALREADY MADE YOUR MEAL SO YOU WILL EAT IT. Our response? We walked right out and into Pinocchio’s next door. Never in my entire life have I ever been through an experience like this. If I could rate this establishment at 0...
Read moreQuality Chinese food, not greasy Chinese takeout. The food is wonderful, and when growing up my grandfather took my family here. When I was young I may not have appreciated ethnic cooking, I do now, and I love it! I love their Mongolian and Hunan beef, and go here every birthday. While it might be more expensive than other Chinese places, like in most things: you get what you pay for. I have gone to many Chinese restaurants in the area and only one even compares. People who go to a Chinese restaurant and order sushi (which is obviously Japanese) and than complain about it are just entitled. The customer service is great and if you want authentic food, hint: it comes with an ethnic accent. I saw one man yell at the waitstaff when he showed up to meet his wife late and than screamed about the sushi (which is great). They make great miso soup and although I typically stick to Chinese their other Japanese food is great too! Ignore the naysayers, this is one of the better local Chinese Restaurants...
