Cedar Chest — Local services in Northampton

I would give them a C+. The reason for this was mostly the service. There were two cashiers and one customer at the counter. I stood behind the customer waiting to pay for my purchase while the other cashier appeared to be busy. Perhaps she was, but there was no acknowledgement that I was there until I had a choice, just before the other customer turned to leave. I didn't feel welcome, mostly just tolerated. The selection of earrings was mediocre. I bought one pair, which was thrown into a bag and when I went to take it out of my pocket back in my car I managed to spear my thumb on one of the posts. That probably added to my overall feelings about the store. In contrast, up the road in Williamsburg there is a store with 10 times the selection of earrings, who always ask if I would like a box. Since they are never for me, but always given as a gift, I always take the box. Maybe that's why I never spear my thumb on their earrings. I will continue shopping there. THE best place to find a gift for basically anyone! Every section is so well thought out and stocked with a variety of price points. This store has no problem letting you feel luxurious without destroying your wallet.

The clothing section, which is a different storefront on the same floor, is similarly well put together. I have a hard time finding interesting clothes in Northampton that are stylish but not like.. college girl stylish. They're not kitsch or cheap, everything is high quality. Just really well done, especially considering not a single item's price made me put it back on the rack.

Yesterday I made a purchase on their website online. Entered all the necessary information with my International credit card. When I clicked pay, the website said my CC was declined but I got a notification from my bank that the transaction was successful. I called the bank that the funds is already withdrawn. I left a message on cedar chest customer service or 'info' email and no response at all. What a terrible place to shop. International customers beware. I felt totally cheated. Never encountered any problems at all and I have purchased so many products from so many US websites. Terrible customer service and that payment gateway, I fear that it may not even be secured.
