My husband and I visited this establishment for carry out while staying in Northbrook, IL. I walked in to place the order and Lisa assisted me. She was very nice, smiled, seemed genuinely happy to help and offered a menu for me to make my selections. However, honey chile I was so hungry I'd already looked up the menu and knew EXACTLY what I wanted.

My husband and I both got the Steak Skillet 🍳. Me with no green peppers sub Jalapenos and extra cheese (don't y'all start with me, y'all already KNOW what it is). My husband an additional egg and extra cheese.

Lisa told me it would be about 5-10 minutes and so we waited. The restaurant is gorgeous. Very well decorated and spacious. The kitchen is semi open so you can see what's going on. Everything was clean and well organized. They had a coffee and pastry bar with excellent variety and selections. Honestly, I forgot my phone where we were staying - that's how ravenous I was. Lol 😆 So I didn't get pictures of the restaurant. Next time, I promise.

This would be a great place to take the family, have a girls or guys breakfast/ lunch, couples outing, date, celebrate a special occasion or treat yourself to some delectable bites.

The order was fulfilled in time and everything was hot and fresh. We had utensils and all the fixings for a good ol' brunch throw down session. Aye!!!!

Emily gave me the order when it was completed and honestly she was a stark contrast to Lisa's excellent customer service. There was no smile, no thank you and no come back to see us soon. It was a "cold" hand off of my order. It wouldn't necessarily keep me from coming back but I would prefer not to come in contact with her again while visiting.

When we got back to our suite the food was still hot which is so nice on a cold, wintery morning. My husband and I tore into the food and it didn't disappoint. Everything was flavorful!!! Steak was tender and perfectly cooked, eggs fluffy, jalapeño spicy and that cheese was cheese'in 🧀 BAAABAAAY! It came with sourdough toast and this cinnamon sweet butter 🧈 ,as well as, jelly. I DID get a picture of all of this.

The portions were huge and it was a great value for the money. My husband was very pleased with his meal as well.

I'll tell you what - the next time we're in town we'll definitely be returning and will probably eat-in to experience dine-in as well. I highly recommend you all stop in and check this establishment out. It's totally worth it. When you do please tell Lisa I said "Hey Girl...

If I was leaving this review 2 years ago, I would have given this place a 5 star, but with the decrease in quality of food being given to me since then, I have to give it a score that merits its current state.

While the food is certainly edible, it's not that good. I'm not comparing the taste to something that of a master chef will give, but to what you would find comparable to a good chef. A lot of stuff that I used to order would always come overcooked. I would receive omelets and egg dishes that are dry and with a rubbery texture. Most places know how to cook eggs so it's disappointing to keep getting dry eggs. I've received charred hash browns that looked like they were cooked without oil or butter. It wasn't pleasant at all to try and no matter how much hot sauce I poured on there to try and hide the bad taste, ultimately it ended up in the garbage.

I've tried other food as well recently, but the last straw was the chicken wrap. It smelled foul and tasted just as bad. The main culprit was the chicken being used. I'm not sure which dumpster they jumped in to grab it but I can guess it was for a pet food manufacturing plant.

Also, the coffee? Horrible. I drink coffee a lot... Never had any problems with it from any other place but here. It makes my stomach uneasy... It doesn't even taste that good to be worth the stomach cramping.

There are some good stuff I tried. Didn't have any issues with the pancakes. Grabbed a sandwich as well that was alright but those items aren't really something I want for breakfast/brunch.

I'm taking up too much time, but the food is the biggest issue, the other smaller issues I have don't really weight in that much.

I'm not sure if this is just the morning weekend crew... but this is what my main experience is with Elly's the last few months. And I don't blame the cooks here, in fact, if anyone needs to be replaced, I would replace the person running the store. There hasn't been any change for a while with the second-rate food being served so someone isn't trying to...

Okay so I have to say this was the first time my friends and I came here and we were just really unsatisfied. To begin let me say they have terrible service. Our waitress sam should be retrained on customer service or atleast go over her mistakes so she can learn from them.

First off when we sat down and were looking over the menu when we told her we aren't ready yet she gave us attitude and rolled her eyes . Then I ordered coffee , here was my issue 12 minutes passed and I still didn't get my coffee. Now that wouldn't have bothered me as much if she wasn't at the table next to me taking more orders and also she then walked around with a coffee pot and she just passed me and when I called her over she just ignored me and I still didn't get my coffee yet . So then I had to flag down a different waitress and ask if she can pour me a cup. Second we ordered the breakfast club meals . They were okay but the meal was supposed to come with a glass of orange juice and so she said she will come back with that. 15 minutes pass and she still didn't come back with that . It was only when she brought the table that was next to us their food when I reminded her that she forgot our orange juice to which she responded "oh ya I'll get that" very rudely . So then she comes back with it and at this point we just wanted our checks and just wanted to leave. Third off she didn't remember who ordered what . Their were 3 of us and I had to tell her where every plate goes . Which is okay but still. The food was okay, I don't recommend the crepes.

Personally with this being my first time experience my friends and I will not be going back there . As far as the poor service . The waitress was very young so I hope she can learn from her...

It was packed in here! That being said the service was fast. Sola Mia caught a cracked cup before pouring my coffee, for which I am thankful. They leave the empty cups upright on the table when setting it. There are enough germs around. Then she left it on the table for the next person to use. Oops! She was able to get me a gluten-free pancake under the Lox Benedict. The kitchen forgot the capers. Also ordered a side of fruit , which they forgot? It came and I sent it back. It was supposed to have grapes , honeydew, cantaloupe and watermelon. It had almost all watermelon that looked rotten and a tiny bit of cantaloupe with one grape shoved in a miniature bowl. We eat with our eyes first. I can’t believe this place was so busy! Food presentation was just so-so. I wasn’t expecting a slinging-hash diner from the reviews. I would have given it at least a 3 at this point. Then, as I was waiting for husband up front I witnessed the most disgusting thing I’ve seen in a long time. Girl in a green shirt at hostess stand had her hands in her mouth
not once but for at least 20 seconds. Was also sucking on a drink. And then went to sanitize the tables? I caught her manager? as she was heading for the silverware and asked her if she was going to allow her to continue without washing her hands. The response? “Oh
yeah.” I left before I made a scene. GROSS!!! TRAINING IN FOOD SERVICE IS EVERYTHING!!! I know Covid is supposed to be gone, but really? And what about other foodborne illness. THAT’S WHY I gave them a 1 star. Would have actually given them a 0. Someone needs a lecture from the health department.

Food portions and quality have gone down hill lately. We used to order from Elly’s multiple times per week, but unfortunately, due to continued issues with numerous food items, we will not be doing that anymore! The Chicken soup either has so much pepper you can’t eat it, or too full of noodles that you can’t find either chicken or broth (see attached photo). If it’s going to be a daily offering, you may want to work on that! Their Rueben’s and Italian Beef’s used to be a really nice size, you could even take some home. Now, they’re about 1/2 the size they used to be. They’re also one of the few places, where if you don’t want fries with your order, they will up-charge you to substitute. If it’s going to break the bank, you guys can keep your scoop of cottage cheese! Overall, they aren’t very flexible or considerate to people’s dietary restrictions! During one of the many times we dined in (months ago), my husband asked for a side of Marinara, we were told they don’t have any, all they had was hot sauce! Being a family restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch, you would think they have something as basic as this. They should be able to accommodate reasonable requests, and not up-charge for simple substitutions. Word of advice for the management
please be more aware of some customer’s dietary restrictions. Hope they turn things around soon
ALSO, PLEASE STOP PUTTING SO MANY NOODLES IN THE SOUP!
