My husband and I visited this establishment for carry out while staying in Northbrook, IL. I walked in to place the order and Lisa assisted me. She was very nice, smiled, seemed genuinely happy to help and offered a menu for me to make my selections. However, honey chile I was so hungry I'd already looked up the menu and knew EXACTLY what I wanted.
My husband and I both got the Steak Skillet đł. Me with no green peppers sub Jalapenos and extra cheese (don't y'all start with me, y'all already KNOW what it is). My husband an additional egg and extra cheese.
Lisa told me it would be about 5-10 minutes and so we waited. The restaurant is gorgeous. Very well decorated and spacious. The kitchen is semi open so you can see what's going on. Everything was clean and well organized. They had a coffee and pastry bar with excellent variety and selections. Honestly, I forgot my phone where we were staying - that's how ravenous I was. Lol đ So I didn't get pictures of the restaurant. Next time, I promise.
This would be a great place to take the family, have a girls or guys breakfast/ lunch, couples outing, date, celebrate a special occasion or treat yourself to some delectable bites.
The order was fulfilled in time and everything was hot and fresh. We had utensils and all the fixings for a good ol' brunch throw down session. Aye!!!!
Emily gave me the order when it was completed and honestly she was a stark contrast to Lisa's excellent customer service. There was no smile, no thank you and no come back to see us soon. It was a "cold" hand off of my order. It wouldn't necessarily keep me from coming back but I would prefer not to come in contact with her again while visiting.
When we got back to our suite the food was still hot which is so nice on a cold, wintery morning. My husband and I tore into the food and it didn't disappoint. Everything was flavorful!!! Steak was tender and perfectly cooked, eggs fluffy, jalapeño spicy and that cheese was cheese'in đ§ BAAABAAAY! It came with sourdough toast and this cinnamon sweet butter đ§ ,as well as, jelly. I DID get a picture of all of this.
The portions were huge and it was a great value for the money. My husband was very pleased with his meal as well.
I'll tell you what - the next time we're in town we'll definitely be returning and will probably eat-in to experience dine-in as well. I highly recommend you all stop in and check this establishment out. It's totally worth it. When you do please tell Lisa I said "Hey Girl...
Read moreIf I was leaving this review 2 years ago, I would have given this place a 5 star, but with the decrease in quality of food being given to me since then, I have to give it a score that merits its current state.
While the food is certainly edible, it's not that good. I'm not comparing the taste to something that of a master chef will give, but to what you would find comparable to a good chef. A lot of stuff that I used to order would always come overcooked. I would receive omelets and egg dishes that are dry and with a rubbery texture. Most places know how to cook eggs so it's disappointing to keep getting dry eggs. I've received charred hash browns that looked like they were cooked without oil or butter. It wasn't pleasant at all to try and no matter how much hot sauce I poured on there to try and hide the bad taste, ultimately it ended up in the garbage.
I've tried other food as well recently, but the last straw was the chicken wrap. It smelled foul and tasted just as bad. The main culprit was the chicken being used. I'm not sure which dumpster they jumped in to grab it but I can guess it was for a pet food manufacturing plant.
Also, the coffee? Horrible. I drink coffee a lot... Never had any problems with it from any other place but here. It makes my stomach uneasy... It doesn't even taste that good to be worth the stomach cramping.
There are some good stuff I tried. Didn't have any issues with the pancakes. Grabbed a sandwich as well that was alright but those items aren't really something I want for breakfast/brunch.
I'm taking up too much time, but the food is the biggest issue, the other smaller issues I have don't really weight in that much.
I'm not sure if this is just the morning weekend crew... but this is what my main experience is with Elly's the last few months. And I don't blame the cooks here, in fact, if anyone needs to be replaced, I would replace the person running the store. There hasn't been any change for a while with the second-rate food being served so someone isn't trying to...
Read moreOkay so I have to say this was the first time my friends and I came here and we were just really unsatisfied. To begin let me say they have terrible service. Our waitress sam should be retrained on customer service or atleast go over her mistakes so she can learn from them.
First off when we sat down and were looking over the menu when we told her we aren't ready yet she gave us attitude and rolled her eyes . Then I ordered coffee , here was my issue 12 minutes passed and I still didn't get my coffee. Now that wouldn't have bothered me as much if she wasn't at the table next to me taking more orders and also she then walked around with a coffee pot and she just passed me and when I called her over she just ignored me and I still didn't get my coffee yet . So then I had to flag down a different waitress and ask if she can pour me a cup. Second we ordered the breakfast club meals . They were okay but the meal was supposed to come with a glass of orange juice and so she said she will come back with that. 15 minutes pass and she still didn't come back with that . It was only when she brought the table that was next to us their food when I reminded her that she forgot our orange juice to which she responded "oh ya I'll get that" very rudely . So then she comes back with it and at this point we just wanted our checks and just wanted to leave. Third off she didn't remember who ordered what . Their were 3 of us and I had to tell her where every plate goes . Which is okay but still. The food was okay, I don't recommend the crepes.
Personally with this being my first time experience my friends and I will not be going back there . As far as the poor service . The waitress was very young so I hope she can learn from her...
