Been coming here for 20 years but watched the service and quality deteriorate. Today was last straw. After a recent meal I bought a frozen "Chicken Noodle Soup" to go. Awhile later, I was looking forward to a nice, satisfying, nutritious meal. To my surprise it was only a few noodles floating in broth. No chicken to be found in this "Chicken Noodle Soup," and no tomatoes, no carrots, no celery like it lists in the ingrdients. Today I was in the area so I stopped by and had lunch. After my meal I asked for the manager and I nicely told him about my disappointing experience. He was confused, and he admitted he didn't know much about the soups. So he brought out the kitchen manager who didn't really have much explanation, except that's just the way it is. He couldn't give an answer to why "Chicken Noodle Soup" has no chicken, and it doesn't have any of the vegetables listed in the ingredients. He did however think it would be helpful to emphatically explain to me that gluten-free means it doesn't have any wheat. Thanks for that. I was looking forward to buying a bunch of items, like stuffed cabbage and kreplach, but was so annoyed I just grumbled something about "bad business" and walked out. I even forgot my bag with a half a reuben sandwich I wanted to bring home to the Mrs.

Did a google search for bakeries while in the area and this place came up. Was in a hidden secret strip mall near a highway...just one way in, one way out! Larger than life building on the outside, but on the inside its like 75% resturant 25% bakery store (no. I didnt do math for the kitchen area in the back!). I was here for the bakery. Saw some things I've never seen before, and couldnt tell u what they were called now, But the taste is unforgettable! So wholesome and natural tasting. There was a triangle shaped treat with apricot or blueberry in the middle...1st bite of the crust and i could taste the honey-sweetness of it....and It only got better from there. Theres also this crushed sesame stuff that could be a peanut butter substitute in any recipe (and an upgrade the recipe!). They also have these delicious pasta-based desserts that has completely changed my thoughts on gross pasta-based desserts. I was blown away by how everything tasted and wanted to try more. I will definitely need to stop in again to try the resturant side. I will stop there everytime i'm within 10 miles of the place again. It'll be worth the detour! MAX AND BENNY'S is an excellent American deli with an East Coast bent. Noisy and joyful, this is a respectful tribute to New York City's Jewish gastronomic traditions. Service, except at the busiest times, is quick and efficient. The expansive menu offers a comprehensive selection of Jewish delicatessen, The excellent bakery's selection is both unique and delicious. The waiters are old school. They know the menu and willingly offer helpful suggestions. When stepping from the cafe into the "Take-A-way" deli, take a few moments to view the clever and unique cookie jar collection. Note: We find our way to Max and Benny's each time we visit Chicago's northwest suburbs. Our family loves the place. Being a vegan, I observe their joy as they devour bowls of chicken soup (with matzo balls) and corned beef sandwiches. My fresh-baked rye bread, vegetable sandwich is large and delicious. 0f course, carry-outs are offered. (How can you stop at a deli and not bring something home?) Lots of free parking. Everything is ADA compatible.

I'm sorry but this place the restaurant part has absolute garbage food and I really hope that it'll change in the near future I ordered the avocado toast with over easy eggs the avocado was dark brown so gross the toast was barley toasted and cold and the eggs where ice cold and I ordered sausage links on the side and they never came with the order đŸ«€

My son ordered half sandwich that came with just meat on it and plain bread there's no stuff on the side like lettuce & tomato this place is not good absolutely not his sandwich also came with a bowl of chicken soup with rice and it was just like broth and rice like they had a container of broth poured it in a bowl and threw a handful of rice in there and that's it ALL for like $14 something like that absolutely CRAZYđŸ˜”â€đŸ’«

I gotta say I miss the place we used to go to back in the day they're no longer around it was called the Belden Deli restaurant and I've been to all of them and that place was the bomb Max and Benny's can't hold a candle to the Belden Max&Benny's needs better cooks and better food the one's handling the food are slipping and it shows the quality isn't there and corners are definitely being cut and it's really unfortunate 😔

They also need a revamping the setup and feng shui isn't right it can be loud and then too close as well with some of the tables and booths to much going on there and not really clean enough to my liking just a lot of stuff that makes it a 1star 😔

And I'm sorry to say even Omega is better and Once upon a Bagel used to be good but I haven't been there in a bit and I really hope it's not following this trend as wellđŸ‘đŸ»

I also feel like some restaurants that wanna be known as a Jewish deli need to be TRUE to what that is and not incorporate other ethnic food into the mix keeping it traditional food because when you start putting other food in the mix this is where the traditional food gets neglected and it shows please bring people in your restaurant to work that will be trained and educated on the traditional food that represents the name and the type of food you TRULY want to SERVE because at the end of the day this is what your customers are coming there for and when you slip or you have staff not educated on the food you push customers away...

Dined here frequently over the years but since Covid almost every aspect has gone downward. Today was the end of our eating here, even if they offered free dinners for a year I won't be back. I wonder if the "owner mgmt" is still running the place or the fry cooks in the back are? The waiters do not have the fortitude to tell the cooks "I'm not serving this to our customers when the food shouldn't have been plated, ours sure didn't. I had a simple request, one that I have asked for in many of the nearby breakfast restaurants, "ask the cook to butter the toast, out of the toaster" and they have done without so much as a second thought! The waiter said they "wouldn't", I said just ask, please! What a mistake, the toast came out with so much butter on it that it was inedible, I'd guess there were easily 5-8 pads of butter wasted on this toast! The cook decided to teach me a lesson, he'd show me that if I crossed them, I'd pay for it. Think of that? This person (the cook), what might he have put in my food because he/she was outraged that a customer asked for something they didn't care to do ... just imagine the things a nasty cook could think to add to my food, or your food. The waiter served it and his look was "see I told you, you shouldn't ask for that!". I paid the check (120.00 plus) and gave a 20% tip to make sure that this bunch didn't know they had really upset a customer. Word of mouth is the best advertising. The owners need to visit their competition and see that they are deficient in every respect, principally by allowing some dumb jerk in the kitchen to screw with their customers. I'd fire the person (and waiter) after he/they read this review, however it will...

The only reason i am giving this review any stars is because we come to this place at a minimum once a week. If we don’t dine in, we carry out. Today we dined in and i unfortunately had incredibly awful service. It was busy today, however as a paying customer that is no excuse to ignore a table and then cop an attitude. We went up to the front 3 different times to see if they could get our waitress back to the table. After 40 minutes she came back and said she has been helping others and i said we had been waiting for her for 40 minutes. It was then that she said raised her voice and said “this is the least of my worries today” and walked away. Well i asked to speak to a manager. That took another 10 minutes. He gave me the excuse that they are busy and short staffed. I asked If that was cause to treat a customer rudely. He gave me an apology that didn’t sound sincere and walked away though he did say he would speak with the server and view the “tape” to check on the time i said it took to get her there. Needless to say she was no longer our server but Marco took over. He is funny, calm and dealt with our escalated situation with the grace of a pro. It pains me to give this review but the only reason i am doing so is that I hope these concerns are taken seriously. No customer should be treated rudely. The original waitress (and I got her name) didn’t even give an apology before she yelled at me (and she certainly didn’t afterwards). I hope that the owners and the managers take...
